Historia
As the war begins, Hanna Rombauer, a young German woman, is sent to live with her aunt and uncle after her mother’s death. Thrown into a life of luxury she never expected, Hanna soon finds herself unwillingly matched with an SS officer twenty years her senior. The independence that her mother lovingly fostered in her is considered highly inappropriate as the future wife of an up-and-coming officer and she is sent to a “bride school.” There, in a posh villa on the outskirts of town, Hanna is taught how to be a “proper” German wife.

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia.

November 1958, New York. Into the rarefied atmosphere of wealth and tradition at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden comes the most unlikely of horses—a drab white former plow horse named Snowman—and his rider, Harry de Leyer. In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Insight from someone who lived in real Racisim
Revisado: 01-17-20
I love that he can tell his life story about South African Apartheid without judging anyone. I learned a lot about how to see racism and still see the funny side of everything that happens to you in your life. Just like everyone of us, instead of saying the things that happened to me make me bitter and judgmental, they promote tolerance and comedy. When he is telling about Hitler, you can see that we all come from the point of view of our own life.

Historia
Twenty-five years after her passing, Audrey Hepburn remains the most beloved of all Hollywood stars, known as much for her role as UNICEF ambassador as for films like Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several biographies have chronicled her stardom, but none has covered her intense experiences through five years of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. According to her son, Luca Dotti, "The war made my mother who she was."

Love this actress. This book not so much
Revisado: 01-17-20
Written like a book of facts, mostly about her family and not about her. It was not what I expected and found it to be very boring.

On the other side of the country, Poe McDowell watches her parents crumble into dust just moments after being shoved inside a coffin-like device that spares her from the same fate.

Apocalyptic alien, zombies!?
Revisado: 02-22-19
Not zombies, not aliens, with apocalypse but all three woven into a terrifying saga.
Very scary but not gory. I loved it and recommend it to people who like this genre which I do. Want a sequel though. Alien zombies destroy humanity because they got a virus disease that kills them or turns them into mutants. The story is what happens to the people who are immune.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Fantasy that is worth listening to
Revisado: 11-29-18
I like George Guidall so the performance was as expected. The story was entertaining and interesting. What would happen if a Ginni got out of the lamp? And then met a Golem? Must read if you like fantasy. I am not Jewish but there was a lot about the people who are that made it interesting and educational. Don't worry you'll like it.

Not Plausable or belivable
Revisado: 11-29-18
Sorry but there are too many liberties taken in this story without much research. I live in this area and know about the water situation and that is why I read this novel. However the story does not have much research behind it and the things that were made up about water wars in the future were not plausible and just too made up to be something that could really happen.

Did not have a well thought out ending kind of boring and unsatisfying. Book was short like the author got tired of writing and just quit. Good thing it was a daily deal.
