The Best of White in this series.
Revisado: 08-10-19
I wasn't sure I would like this one. It is odd. But after the first two chapters, I caught the charm and just enjoyed letting the story take me where it would. Good one for a rainy day, and a few cups of coffee.

Historia
Following the death of her husband, Lady Darby has taken refuge at her sister's estate, finding solace in her passion for painting. But when one of the house guests is murdered, her brother-in-law asks her to aid the insufferable Sebastian Gage - a fellow guest with some experience as an inquiry agent. While Gage is clearly more competent than she first assumed, Kiera isn't about to let her guard down, as accusations and rumors swirl.

story is well developed, narrator needs help
Revisado: 06-02-16
I loved his story and it is the only reason I stayed with it despite the very slow start, which I'm affording blame on the narrative that although essential to setting up the plot and theme and background, I barely made through the rhythmic drone of the narrator. I hope she improves with next book or it may be the last I get to hear in this series. I will give her one more bit of grace.

Historia
It’s Christmas in Houston, and homicide detective Roland March is on the hunt for a killer. A young woman’s brutal stabbing in an affluent neighborhood bears all the hallmarks of a serial murder. The only problem is that March sent the murderer to prison 10 years ago. Is it a copycat - or did March convict the wrong man? Alienated from his colleagues, and with a growing rift in his marriage, March receives a series of taunting messages from the killer. The bodies pile up, the pressure builds, and the violence reaches too close to home.

A "who donit" at its best!
Revisado: 03-29-16
Would you listen to The September Society again? Why?
Yes, so much detail that although the gist of the story is there, it behooves the reader to return to the characters themselves and tuss out details missed the first hearing. After all, hearing someone describe facts weighs more after you know the full significance, am I right?
What other book might you compare The September Society to and why?
A good mix of Conan Doyle and Bronte.
What does James Langton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
After I became accustom to his rhythm, he added to the story and I enjoyed listening. Now that I know it, his voice is the one I expect to hear when anticipating the next one.
