As always George Guidall gave a masterful performance. His narration is the reason I have enjoyed many varied stories.
The writing was engaging. Not many surprises. But wonderful backstories.

Historia
During a houseboat vacation on the remote Lake of the Woods, a violent gale sweeps through unexpectedly, stranding Cork and his daughter, Jenny, on a devastated island where the wind has ushered in a force far darker and more deadly than any storm. Amid the wreckage, Cork and Jenny discover the body of a teenage girl. She wasn't killed by the storm, however; she'd been bound and tortured before she died. Nearby, underneath a tangle of branches, they also find a baby boy, hungry and dehydrated, but still very much alive.

A bit dated in story line
Revisado: 10-30-20
This reminds me of the 50s and 60s television westerns and movies. Quite predictable twists and turns. Some fairly corny dialogue which is intended to be amusing.
Overall quite refreshing at a time when so many people are taking television shows, movies and books so seriously.

A great listen with George Guidall as performer. This is a good old fashioned western. No surprises. But a very deep story as big as the old west.

Orphan X. Say no more.
Revisado: 07-26-19
From the beginning this series went from excellent to beyond belief. Gregg Hurwitz is a master at edge of the seat nail biting adventure. What will Evan Smoak have to do next. A carry over love interest was in this one as well. A very strong female character. And a heart breaker. Of course they are doomed. Scott Brick keeps sharpening his craft. His voice is recognizable but he is a master at performing various characters within this story and from his other work. He is not boring at all. Well done!

Not at all like John Grisham. Yet the author is very talented. The story is very engaging with some very surprising twists and turns. George Guidall is superb in this performance. When he was reading the part of the psycho it sent chills in all direction.

Historia
In the winter of 1952, New England was battered by the most brutal nor’easter in years. As the weather wreaked havoc on land, the freezing Atlantic became a wind-whipped zone of peril, setting the stage for one of the most heroic rescue stories ever lived. On February 18, while the storm raged, two oil tankers, the Pendleton and the Fort Mercer, were in the same horrifying predicament. Built with “dirty steel,” and not prepared to withstand such ferocious seas, both tankers split in two, leaving the dozens of men on board utterly at the Atlantic’s mercy.

Good story once it gets going.
Revisado: 02-20-19
It took a couple of tries for me to get interested in this novel. I live in the desert southwest. I have no interest in surfing nor in the surfer's way of living. So the first part was rather tedious having to learn of all that life entails. Plus sprinkled throughout is a bit too much background regarding SoCal's transformation to a massive tourist trap.
Then we get going into the murder, human traficking and other miserable things people do to each other. It was so revolting hearing of all this so well written and performed. It is a book one loves to hate.
Ray Porter is an excellent performer. He is the reason I was the least interested in this book. I have yet to listen to a bad performance by this master. Well done sir!
