Historia
Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage. Joffrey sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, victim of the sorceress who holds him in her thrall. Young Robb still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons left in the world.

Great story. I'm gonna give up and read the next book. It feels like Roy Dotrice is spitting in my ear with every consonant. It makes me want to scream. Why on earth did you put his wet lips right next to the mic? Could you not have recorded him in a medium sized room with the mic further away?

Historia
A debut of extraordinary distinction: through the trials of one unforgettable family, Ayana Mathis tells the story of the children of the Great Migration, a story of love and bitterness and the promise of a new America. In 1923, 15-year-old Hattie Shepherd flees Georgia and settles in Philadelphia, hoping for a chance at a better life. Instead, she marries a man who will bring her nothing but disappointment and watches helplessly as her firstborn twins succumb to an illness a few pennies could have prevented.

Beautiful Reading
Revisado: 03-04-13
If you could sum up The Twelve Tribes of Hattie (Oprah's Book Club 2.0) in three words, what would they be?
Engaging Beautiful Sad
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I loved hearing the narrator read the accents that sound like home (I live far away now). Her voice is beautiful and easy to listen to.
