Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Not Mr King's best
Revisado: 06-09-18
I am a die hard Stephen King fan and was excited for a new novel. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. For a listen of over 18 hours, it took about 15 of them > to start getting good. Well written as always, with great characters and imagery. I won't bother with details, mostly because I am hard pressed to remember any outstanding ones, at least until the very end.
If you have never listened to narration by Will Patton, this is worth the time. He is fantastic. Holly was stellar. It truly made this book more enjoyable. Personally, I wish I had not wasted the credit, but will keep my eyes open for Will Patton in my future. Sorry Mr. King, my worst review for you ever.

A different kind of LOVE Story
Revisado: 05-16-18
I enjoyed this story immensely. It was well read, well written and all around satisfying. The bond between Michael and "TABOR" (Mata) was similar to me and my cats. They instinctively know how you are feeling. I was entertained, moved and shed my own kind of tears, at the end of the story, although it was destined to end as it did, happily > at least for Ron. It is a quick listen, if you love cats please go in for this one. It did not disappoint.

The men onboard HMS Terror have every expectation of finding the Northwest Passage. When the expedition's leader, Sir John Franklin, meets a terrible death, Captain Francis Crozier takes command and leads his surviving crewmen on a last, desperate attempt to flee south across the ice. But as another winter approaches, as scurvy and starvation grow more terrible, and as the Terror on the ice stalks them southward, Crozier and his men begin to fear there is no escape.

DON"T watch the (whole) TV show first please.
Revisado: 05-05-18
I started listening to this book just as a mini series was released on TV called "TERROR". Since the book is over 28 hours long, I had to stop after the second episode, because it was moving so much faster than I was listening. It was nice however, to have visual and audio images of what things looked like and how the characters would have sounded. It made the whole experience even better for me. I felt like I knew the Captain and crew more intimately. Especially SILENCE.
Seeing the vessels at sail (on TV) in the beginning really set the scene of what this exploration was about. I did some research, printed a chart from the internet, and followed their journey from the Capt's logs and crew journals. I read some facts/images from the internet, and gave myself a true history lesson. I got really involved, it was a lot of fun. I was on an adventure myself. It lasted 2 weeks, listening at work. I had to re-wind a lot. You will get why immediately. But I missed many things in one or two sentences, this is not a lazy day read. It takes concentration and commitment.
I just finished the book today 05-05-2018; before the TV series has completed, for me anyway. I am SUPER glad I did. I know NOW > There could be no comparison between the two. If you are in this predicament, please WAIT and finish the book first. Please only watch one or 2 shows, then it gets you lost... You will be glad you did, there are a lot of important differences.
This is the first time I have listened to Tom Sellwood. I was impressed and amazed at the ease and perfection he gave to each character. I will look for more of this artist in the future for sure.
As far as the story itself, it was well written in the vernacular of the times, and I learned many new words. It is a wonderful adventure. Filled with drama, violence, horror, sorrow, and many more feelings that came to me while following the unbelievable tales in the search for the Northwest Passage. The actual hardships of these men, moving these ancient wooden ships through the ice was something I had a hard time comprehending. I admit I had my mind blown ~ in many ways, during this journey.
I do not usually go in for this genre, but after reading reviews, I am glad I gave this story a chance. I was not disappointed. I will most likely "read"/ listen to it again at a later date.
When it finally finished, I was feeling good and warm all over, and sad too. Saying goodbye to this story was bittersweet, I will never forget it.

Some food for thought looking into the future
Revisado: 06-22-16
If you could sum up The Road in three words, what would they be?
Honest. Thought provoking. Sincere.
What did you like best about this story?
The overwhelming thought from the Papa of the boy.
Have you listened to any of Tom Stechschulte’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have nothing to compare it to, but will watch for his narration in the future.
If you could take any character from The Road out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Papa. He certainly deserves a good dinner for all he sacrificed.
Any additional comments?
This was a good listen, and I enjoyed it very much. It moved along at a good pace, yet slowed when feelings and emotions were coming through to the listener.

Historia
The tragic story of Susan Powell and her murdered boys, Charlie and Braden, is the only case that rivals the Jon Benet Ramsey saga in the annals of true crime. When the pretty, blonde Utah mother went missing in December of 2009 the media was swept up in the story - with lenses and microphones trained on Susan's husband, Josh. He said he had no idea what happened to his young wife, and that he and the boys had been camping in the middle of a snowstorm.

Good insight into the story behind local headlines
Revisado: 06-22-16
Would you try another book from Gregg Olsen and Rebecca Morris and/or Laural Merlington and Kevin Pierce ?
Yes, I believe I would
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Nothing really compelling, just good story telling stating the facts.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Perhaps, but it was easily followed, and you knew what character was on point every time
Could you see If I Can't Have You: being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I would not want to see this tragic story be a movie.

Historia
On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that's going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he's sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché.

Twisty and compelling to the end
Revisado: 03-18-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Kind Worth Killing to be better than the print version?
Yes. The narration really brought life to the characters involved. I feel it is much better with the voices actually heard.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite was Lilly. She was very complex.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
A good feel for what each character is about, the way they felt about things.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No I had no reaction that was extreme. I did not laugh or cry, I just enjoyed it all.

Less sex and more story
Would you recommend Spin to your friends? Why or why not?

I did like the way the Italian stud was portrayed.
Did Spin inspire you to do anything?

Real Time in WA State when I was growing up.
Revisado: 03-04-16
If you could sum up Son in three words, what would they be?
Well written.
Informative.
Interesting.
Long, but never lost.
Solid closure.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Son?
Every bit of factual information was enjoyed.
Maybe when > oops SPOILER ! sorry.
What aspect of Kevin Pierce’s performance would you have changed?
It was fine. Not the kind of reading that needs very much emotion. He did do Fred/Kevin good. I would have added an eccentric female to do Ruth; It was called SON.
I feel that there were more under currents to her relationship with Fred;
Which created Kevin? Go figure?
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was just interested to learn the real story. Documented to perfection; In my opinion.
No laughing or crying.
I read and followed this story in real time when it was happening in Spokane.
Any additional comments?
Ted Bundy, and the Hillside Strangler were hunting and killing in my towns > for 10 years, right before this; I was in my teens. I lived in-between Bellingham and Seattle then, but there was no where safe in WA during that decade. This just topped it off. Not paying attention could get a young woman killed anywhere in the state. Enough said.
