I enjoy this book because I follow the author, who produces many interesting articles and also relevant YouTube videos. The book is kind of a crystallization of his current thoughts on how we got into problems with the economy, resources allocation, energy production and what the short-term future holds. Book is narrated by the author who does an excellent job.

I enjoyed reading this book, which examined recent American history, our foreign policy goals, our national self-concepts and where they have faults. And made some recommendations for future changes.

Excellent and engaging history of Russian subversive activities in the west. Lots of detail with interesting information for everybody who has an interest in that area. Of course it is better to know all these things, but hard to remember

Difficult and tedious, I often thought it should have been titled "The Tragedy of Inevitability." Following is link to my podcast on Henry Kissinger, conflicted Jew, former Secretary of State and National Security advisor. Was he an agent for good or an evil war criminal? The greatest Secretary of State of our time? Only time will tell but I offer a number of different perspectives on the subject of Super K. http://bit.ly/3jlf76x

Being a fan of Henry Kissinger I think predisposed me to liking this book. It is very speculative, written by a person who is very successful but also has a uniquely filtered biased and highly opinionated viewpoint of history. The book was interesting, and I think the most compelling part that drove me to choose this book to read was a section on the short-term predictions for USA success as a democracy. I do recommend this book for reading

Read with difficulty this interesting but often overwhelming book. My background is medicine and microbiology so I'm good with details but this book to me frequently is overwhelming, with too much information, too many statements, too much details to keep track of yet alone absorbe, difficult to put everything in an overall picture. I am constantly urged, feel compelled to start editing, cutting, simplifying. If I had the time and interest, which I do not, particularly in the case of this book, want to edit the text, I could easily reduce it to 40 to 50% of its length. I am sure I could increase understanding, decrease confusion, result in more people making it from beginning to end but sanity holds my hand and won't let me do so. I'm not sure how I made it to the end. TMI

⁹ The title of this book refers to these three dangerous men : Gen. Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, Russian military chief Valery Gerasimov, and Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. As noted elsewhere, the extended profiles of these 3 dangerous men come at the expense of a more complete assessment of the damage they are responsible for. The author cites many former CIA and Defense Department officials, but doesn’t fully reckon with the ethical and legal implications of the author"s call for America to ramp up its irregular warfare capabilities. Some effort is made to discuss the concept of irregular warfare, its origin, how it is applied along with the concept of active measures.
This one-sided account feels more alarmist than essential. In many ways, this book reminds me of a similar biased and myopic book which I recently read and left a short review; "Losing Military Supremacy: The Myopia of American Strategic Planning", by Andrei Martyanov.

Three interesting features drew me to this book: Henry Kissinger - the lead author, the subject of AI, and the glowing reviews. I am interested in rhe concept of AI and its ramifications for the future of USA and mankind. After I read the book, I realized that although Kissinger is listed as lead author, he is Far and Away not the primary author. Having read many of Kissinger's books, it's my impression that his contribution to the overall work was minimal, other than as a marketing draw. Of course I don't know that for sure, and if it turns out I'm wrong here, then I apologize. The prospective reader should not expect to find unique, earthshaking concepts concerning AI or where it will be taking our society. There is some general speculative benefit on a number of subjects, but this can actually be found in other works. In fact, I think I would have been better off re-reading Kissinger's very insightful and memorable 2018 essay in The Atlantic: How The Enlightenment Ends. I will end my review with a short list of related books that you may also want to avoid for any number reasons.1. Kissinger on Kissinger, 2. Possible Minds: 25 ways to look at AI.

Wires of War-extensive well-researched

The sub heading to the title the wires of war is "technology and the global struggle for power". That is actually more the primary title then Wires of War, which is somewhat but not very catchy. This book deals with current and evolving Technologies, and how they affect power through altering knowledge. Discuss its National and international interests, best interests of countries, people acting in or against their best interests, technologies that are blocking our best interest. My initial impression was that although very interesting and heavy on details, there is a tremendous amount of speculation and conjecture with constructions that are what if situations of the worst possible manipulation by primarily China as an adversary of free flow of information. On reflection, I am a lot more worried about the possibility that some of these conjectures if not true now, certainly could become more True by 2022 to 2024.
