Historia
Set on a large ranch in rural upstate New York, it’s early days for the eccentric group of people who call themselves "The Zeta Family" - quite possibly the next big cult phenomenon. Our protagonist, Katie, is an aspiring reporter who has decided to infiltrate the compound, and her future success as a journalist depends entirely on her ability to win the confidence of Zeta Doug, the likable spiritual leader of the group. He’s like a cross between Hunter S. Thompson and George R. R. Martin, with a little too much sci-fi in his head and acid in his blood stream.

Historia
When Jack and Elizabeth meet as college students in the '90s, the two quickly join forces and hold on tight, each eager to claim a place in Chicago’s thriving underground art scene with an appreciative kindred spirit. Fast-forward twenty years to married life, and alongside the challenges of parenting they encounter cults disguised as mindfulness support groups, polyamorous would-be suitors, Facebook wars, and something called Love Potion Number Nine. For the first time, Jack and Elizabeth struggle to recognize one another, and the no-longer-youthful dreamers are forced to face their demons.

I was a huge fan of Alice isn't dead and am a fan of Nightvale and this is another great podcast by the same creators. Funny, well-written, beautiful voices and soundscapes, loveable characters. Highly recommend.

Historia
Patricia Campbell's life has never felt smaller. Her ambitious husband is too busy to give her a goodbye kiss in the morning, her kids have their own lives, her senile mother-in-law needs constant care, and she's always a step behind on thank-you notes and her endless list of chores. The one thing she has to look forward to is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime and paperback fiction. At these meetings they're as likely to talk about the Manson family as they are marriage, motherhood, and neighborhood gossip.

Historia
In this audiobook, Dr Bessel van der Kolk offers a new paradigm for effectively treating traumatic stress. Neither talking nor drug therapies have proven entirely satisfactory. With stories of his own work and those of specialists around the globe, The Body Keeps the Score sheds new light on the routes away from trauma - which lie in the regulation and syncing of body and mind, using sport, drama, yoga, mindfulness, meditation and other routes to equilibrium.

Trigger warning - accounts of extreme trauma
Revisado: 10-11-22
I've heard so much about this book, and it has such a high rating. I'm surprised. I'm struggling to listen to it. Lots of examples of horrific incidents are given. Rape, children, being killed, etc, etc, etc. It's crazy to me that a book meant for trauma survivors would be this upsetting. I mean, I think it's very common for trauma survivors to be easily triggered. And a expert in the field of trauma should know this? Surely the examples don't have to be quite so gut-wrenching. It's as if the author tried his best to use the most disturbing accounts of trauma he has ever encountered as examples. Truly painful to listen to the horrors humans have done to each other. If you're a sensitive person, you might want to skip this. Holy hell. I've given up and am skipping ahead to chapter 13 - Healing from trauma. Hopefully no more horrific examples but actual helpful advice.

Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Trigger warning - something bad happens to a dog
Revisado: 06-10-22
I haven't finished listening to this, but I'm very annoyed and just wanted to put a warning here. In the chapter- a journey on relational healing - Right at the beginning of the chapter he talks about a dog getting hurt. If you're like me and incredibly triggered by animals getting hurt. SKIP.
You're writing a book for people with trauma who have triggers and then you don't give trigger warnings? Not cool. SO stupid. I literally screamed and slammed my laptop closed. I cannot deal with animals getting hurt.

Historia
Korede is bitter. How could she not be? Her sister, Ayoola, is many things: the favorite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola's third boyfriend in a row is dead. Korede's practicality is the sisters' saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood, the trunk of her car is big enough for a body, and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures of her dinner to Instagram when she should be mourning her 'missing' boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit.
