Historia
It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

Historia
On January 21, 1958, nineteen-year-old Charles Starkweather changed the course of crime in the United States when he murdered the parents and sister of his fourteen-year-old girlfriend (and possible accomplice), Caril Ann Fugate, in a house on the edge of Lincoln, Nebraska. They then drove to the nearby town of Bennet, where a farmer was robbed and killed. When Starkweather’s car broke down, the teenagers who stopped to help were murdered and jammed into a storm cellar. By the time the dust settled, ten innocent people were dead and the city of Lincoln was in a state of terror.

Historia
In the wake of the George Floyd murder and calls for defunding the police, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd reflects on our changing points of view on law enforcement through a personal prism - the life and times of her father. For four decades, Detective Sergeant Michael J. Dowd served on the Washington, DC, police force, guarding presidents and catching killers. Meanwhile, his daughter grew up as a child of the 1960s, embracing liberal politics and evolving into a journalist some presidents might have thought they needed to be guarded from.

Historia
Although not a member of the National Socialist Party, Leni Riefenstahl was the film-maker darling of the Nazis and Adolf Hitler. First a successful dancer and actress in Germany, she became more notorious when she produced and directed Victory of Faith and Triumph of the Will, the chilling documentaries about Nazi Party congresses at Nuremberg. Glenn Morris was an All-American farm boy from tiny Simla, Colorado, as well as a former college football star and student body president at the school now known as Colorado State University.

A Book for Our Times — Learn from History
Revisado: 05-27-22
Terry Frei wins gold with this sensational book mixing history with romance and drama.
The research is rich and the characters come out all too human. Now, hmmm. How much is fact?
Time to read up.
I loved the Colorado parts.

Hard Truths Told Well
Revisado: 08-23-20
Everybody has a breaking point from Trump, including his niece. She was cheated by her Uncle Donald out of many millions of dollars. So was Uncle Sam. Donald convinced his siblings to go along with his corrupt scheme to undervalue his Dad's assets and to betray his obligation to take care of his dead brother's kids.
Surreptitiously taping the complicit Aunt Maryanne under such circumstances is understandable. Saving our country is a noble goal. Mary held back till she realized, as so many of us do, that our country is at stake. Uncle Donald is a very bad man. Just ask his big sister who was paid to evaluate people, and evidence.

Historia
Out of the greatest dynasty in American professional sports history, an intimate story of race, mortality, and regret. About to turn 90, Bob Cousy, the Hall of Fame Boston Celtics captain who led the team to its first six championships on an unparalleled run, has much to look back on in contentment. But he has one last piece of unfinished business. The last pass he hopes to throw is to close the circle with his great partner on those Celtic teams, fellow Hall of Famer Bill Russell, now 84.
