Historia
The ancient Ojibwe healer Henry Meloux has had a vision of his death. As he walks the Northwoods in solitude, he tries to prepare himself peacefully for the end of his long life. But peace is destined to elude him as hunters fill the woods seeking a woman named Dolores Morriseau, a stranger who had come to the healer for shelter and the gift of his wisdom. Meloux guides this stranger and his great niece, Cork O'Connor's wife, to safety deep into the Boundary Waters, his home for more than a century.

Winner of the 1961 Hugo Award for Best Novel and widely considered one of the most accomplished, powerful, and enduring classics of modern speculative fiction, Walter M. Tall tale
Revisado: 03-20-20
As usual for this writer, she skillfully illustrates life in “shades of gray”rather than in stark black and white. However, the storyline is convoluted and many of the characters lack depth. This made it hard for me to keep listening. I did hang- in until the ending, but found myself wondering if it was worth the time invested.

It is Halloween night, and the local museum in King's Lynn is preparing for an unusual event - the opening of a coffin containing the bones of a medieval bishop. But when Ruth Galloway arrives to supervise, she finds the museum's curator lying dead beside the coffin. It is only a matter of time before she and DI Nelson cross paths once more, as he is called in to investigate. Soon the museum's wealthy owner lies dead in his stables, too. These two deaths could be from natural causes - but Nelson isn't convinced.

An interesting novel with endearing characters that
grow and change over time. The setting and story line reflect a deep appreciation for nature and
all things mystical and magical. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Not her best...
Revisado: 02-14-20
Entertaining overall, but not this author’s best work.
The dialogues are repetitive and do not move the story forward. The characters, other than the main character, are unidimensional.

Well worth listening to!
Revisado: 11-05-19
An excellent melding of science, history, linguistics and science fiction, this audiobook is well worth listening to...If you love to learn, have wondered where humankind is heading, and enjoy well developed characters, then this work of fiction is for you. P. Ochlan, narrator, does a fine job portraying the characters and keeping the listeners’ curiosity alive. I look forward to Gary Grossman’s next book and hope it will be a sequel to this one.

Too Superhero-like
Revisado: 04-17-18
From beginning to end this book was comprised of superficial, unidimensional characters better suited to a Superhero comic than a novel. Whereas the narration was very well done, the story told relied more on shock-effect than literature. Unfortunately I Cannot recommend this to fellow listeners/readers.

Pendergast fan
Revisado: 02-03-18
Another can’t put down Preston and Child novel.
The complexity of Pendergast as a character continues to deepen. Multilevel innuendo about society as a whole and Homo sapiens as a species
is woven into a scenario that feels, simultaneously, too fantastic to believe but also too frighteningly realistic to disregard. I eagerly await yet the ‘next in series’ Pendergast novel by these two writers.
