this MC is painfully dumb and naive
Revisado: 05-07-25
The main character is very dumb. It's very cringe. He's also so toxic to the idea of killing as long as the one being killed is sentient, that he overcompensates. For instance one character will say "there are thousands of monsters coming to eat my children. Please great hero. kill all monsters" then he'll say "I'll have to kill thousands. I don't want to. Killing is immoral" its like he didn't hear the part about eating children. He's CONSTANTLY naive about the world and situation he finds himself in.
"Oh these people are suspicious but they told me a sad story about how they were homeless so lets let them into our town. why did those people I knew were suspicious push me over a cliff. no one could have seen this coming. Certainly not the advisor who told me to be wary of them. Thats a mistake I'll make a conscious decision to not learn from." I can think of several people who would have lived if he wasn't such a pansy.
Every time that adviser makes an effort to give the MC some logical constructive feedback on how he might improve himself or his holdings but no. He calls him a eggplant and makes no effort to learn. "My enemies are weak to my bow. The advisor wants me to train with the bow because I couldn't hit the brodside of a barn door but I'm too busy right now so instead I'm going to try and give my bow teacher the slip because I'm a man child."

Before Kaen can win a battle—much less a war—he must learn how to harness the incredible energy of his lifestone, and identify who is friend and who is foe as others join his cause. Trained by the aging Elies and his dragon, Tharnok, Kaen and his own dragon, Pammon, urge each other harder and higher with every practice run, all in service of the fight that is ultimately Kaen's destiny.

the time skip was odd to me
Revisado: 01-20-25
Im not that far in. The big points of the story are fine. maybe I'm just nitpicking but these small things are really bothering me.
Why didn't kaen go into his magic until after the time skip. Before the time skip he learned his fire shot. why did it take him two years to learn the lightning shot. Why did he stop at lightning. The jump in logic doesn't seem that far. If you have one element why not two. Why not four. He lived with elves for two years. Is a nature shot out of the question. It makes him seem dumb or unimaginative.
Also I think he should have done better against the Griffins. I get there're young but Dragons should be kings of the sky. Matched in ariel combat only by other dragons. but again yes they are young which may be an excuse. It was just sad to see them grounded so fast and easily. You know a dragon and all.
also in that fight why did Kaen get so flustered when the griffins dodged his shot. Your saying that every ariel enemy Elias put them against in the last two years had the dodging ability of a brick house. It all just seems like a lack of imagination or something.

Historia
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Jake seem like more of a coward now.
Revisado: 09-11-24
I won't spill to much of the beans but there was a fight early on in ch. 3 where Jake is fighting a hard enemy. He keeps using his illusion with little success until he's dog piled on and half eaten alive. Meanwhile I'm screaming at my phone "USE YOUR TIME MAGIC" if I had such a overpowered ability it would be at the tip of my finger ready to snap into place. Yet despite the fact my boy Jake has been in a bunch of fights by now, his actions in this chapter were downright embarrassing. These really aren't the actions of an MC in his second book.

Historia
In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system. It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass, deal with dragons and the unknown, for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

this series is both bad and good
Revisado: 08-20-24
To start off the level system is so confusing. there's a alphabetical system for buildings, spell books, potions and stuff which would be fine if it wasn't for the two other systems. Some items get a title like divine, exotic or demonic. Its soon hard to remember everything correctly. Then there's the next level system. This is for things like character tiers. the get titles like king, monarch, Saint or emperor. I'm on the 5th book right now and I still can't keep everything in correct order. Just use a numbered system instead of this confusing mess.
On the other hand the voice acting is steller. the noble voice he does is stereotypically on point. my favorite voice was Ling. Very expressive. also the PG-13 romance was very cute. lilya
