Historia
She's unlike any one or any thing else: a Non-Standard Leashed-Intelligence Cybernetic Enforcer aka NSLICE-00P. The first of her kind, she's let loose into a universe of superheroes on behalf of her sinister masters to destroy all who oppose them. And everything's going according to plan—until NSLICE-00P gets hacked and sent into the past to kill her own creator before he creates her. Obeying orders as always, she wastes the poor guy. Unfortunately, there are consequences to initiating a reality-breaking time paradox. The most significant: total ejection from that reality.

Good overall story
Revisado: 06-04-24
The story took some time to get used to but it's really good and entertaining overall. However I do think this could do without the constant status updates. I get why it's there but there's like almost a solid hour or more of runtime dedicated to just to repeat her status over and over. It's very repetitive and makes me less interested in the story over all. I auto zone out as soon as the status update begins

Historia
I didn't want to be worshiped like some deity—an instant replacement for the asuras. For so long, these people looked up to the asuras as gods, but the asuras kept trying to kill them. Arthur Leywin has finally returned to the continent of Dicathen, but his home is still firmly in the hands of the enemy. His display of unprecedented power brings hope to his allies and fear to his enemies. It also deeply embroils him in a conflict between the godlike asuras, with Agrona Vritra on one side and Kezess Indrath on the other.

Elizabeth is not good - please re-record with Travis only
Revisado: 03-15-24
Travis is best as always. I did not enjoy this performance solely because Elizabeth has zero range as a actor. I physically cringe each time she breathed into the mic. She's a very breathy speaker. I had trouble following her narration due to her voices having zero change. Everyone sounded the same. I struggled to pay attention to the story because I didn't know which voice was who and I could not tune out her breath noises. ItI barely finished the listen through. I bought the Kindle version too read. At least every character sounds good in my head

Historia
Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

I don't get the people complaining (SPOILERS)
Revisado: 11-08-20
I actually really enjoyed this book. I see numerous people complaining about so called plot holes but there aren't many and certainly aren't the things I see people complaining about.
First thing first, SPOILERS, if you keep reading that's on you.
I see a LOT of people saying this book wants to be Harry Potter... Please note school & the military is mandatory in this world and if you don't pass in school you are tossed into the military basically as cannon fodder. This book is nothing like Harry Potter. Pleas STOP comparing EVERY book with magic to Harry Potter. It's not accurate. Magic existed in books before Harry Potter and certainly will continue to exist without it.
I see a LOT of people complaining about Corins ignorance in magic and use that he was home-schooled for the reason he should know more about magic. WRONG. If you actually read, he spent almost every waking hour learning how to fight and strategize with Gray Mana, using a dueling cane. He did not learn about magic in and of it self. The book clearly explains his father didn't teach him the things he would normally learn in school so he was much further BEHIND in general studies than everyone else, let alone specializations. He couldn't and shouldn't have studied specific forms of magic because you don't know the kind of atunement you will end up with. Any magic he MAY have studied was a waste anyway considering he ended up with an enchanter atunement which his dad certainly would not have taught him about nor have any books on.
I also see people complaining about him looking for his brother. His life was centered on his brother being the only real saving grace and being the main one to encourage him. Corin recognizes the very real possibility & likely hood of Tristen not being alive. He recognizes that this is just his wishful thinking. What's wrong with a kid having hope that his brother would best the odds and survive? What's wrong with him trying to hold on to any string of hope that his family would get back together if his brother were alive. He's also hoping his dad won't "train" him as hard if his brother is found.
Corin is socially awkward because he's spent his entire life being "trained" by his father non-stop. His so called "training", only got worse after his brother died & his mother left. See how much you would like to be touched after living through that. Also yes he has complicated feelings about Sara! She was not only raised to be HIS retainer but someone he could depend on to help him, then she was taken by his mom. When he came back from his tower test not only did his dad just belittle him for surviving and not getting the "family atunement" but he also replaces him and says "hey I cheated on your mom and the girl you thought would be by your side is actually your sister and she's taking your place". If that doesn't give him a reason to be awkward I don't know what will.
Corin has an LGBT+ love interest and people are complaining about how it came out of nowhere. Yes. It did for Corin too. This book is told mostly from his side. He goes through this entire inner thought process of how he's never looked at guys or considered guys but apparently in their world same sex relationships are not unheard of so no one makes a thing of it. I applaud that. I'm over people trying to make it into a big deal. It's not & shouldn't be.
Followers of Wid are non-binary. Not unheard of so its not a big deal, and just like everyone else he's mildly annoyed having to remind himself to use that person's proper pronouns (they, them, etc). I also don't see why people are making a big deal out this, the book didn't. It's a fact of life in their world. This book is not begging for acceptance from everyone but is inclusive.
Overall I actually enjoy Corins indecisiveness because it reminds me of me own thought process. I enjoy the story. Could some things have been done different/better? Yes. But that doesn't mean it's a bad book.

Entertaining, but not great
Revisado: 10-15-20
I actually really enjoy James Veitch as a comedian however normally when he's telling these stories it's a condensed version that's a lot more funny. The full versions as interesting as they may be, is not as are not as entertaining. I truly believe this book could have been better in favor of a condensed story line and more stories. Hopefully there's another book and he gets a chance to redeem himself
