Historia
Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery—abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona. Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life. Until the day of “strange magnetism.” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere. It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money. And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him. Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life.

Boring
Revisado: 08-11-22
Not bad enough not to finish, but not good either. Read like a young adult novel. Over use of similes got old really quick. Much of the early rather tedious details were superfluous and never appeared again in the story. The only suspense was held back for the final 30 minutes of listening.

George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture, quoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words! This must-read is also a must-listen!

Perfect narration of a classic
Revisado: 08-03-22
Cosham's narration really made the animals come to life. Their voices actually matched how I imagined they'd sound when reading the book (long ago). Orwell's thesis has certainly withstood the test of time time. Animal Farm seems to become more relevant every year.

When Laura Coates joined the Department of Justice as a prosecutor, she wanted to advocate for the most vulnerable among us. But she quickly realized that even with the best intentions, “the pursuit of justice creates injustice.”

Laundry list of rookie mistakes
Revisado: 03-02-22
I'm a fan of Laura's SiriusXM show and was expecting more from this book. She started out with a story of asking a question she didn't want the answer to and I thought the rest of the book would document her growth from there. Unfortunately, it was just a bunch of anecdotes of perceived racial injustices and her inability to work around them. And then it was done. No growth, just a last story. The topics in her afterward, if fleshed out would have made a great overall outline. Instead it was just a list of societally problems she chose not to address in the book. Overall, disappointing.

Historia
The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

Don't bother
Revisado: 12-17-20
Move on now to one of the other series, this one is not worth listening to. As other reviewers have said, the first two hours are a rehash of the previous books and he doesn't present anything new. He even rehashes earlier parts of this book in excruciating detail similar to his treatment of previous books. The dialogue is tedious and repeats itself over and over. How many time can Dortotea chide Cletus about his language? Or Cletus lament "his Tia Juan, that son of a bitch". When he (they?) wrote this one he couldn't even remember what he called one the the main characters (Martin) in previous books. I was gifted the books 5-7 so I finished the series. if it wasn't free I'd have asked for a refund.

Historia
June, 1941. Determined that the United States will be prepared for war, Franklin D. Roosevelt and "Wild Bill" Donovan orchestrate the most complex espionage organization in history, the Office of Strategic Services. Young and daring, the OSS assemble under a thin camouflage of diplomacy and then disperse throughout the world to conduct their operations. And no operation is more critical than the one being conducted by hotshot pilot Richard Canidy and his half-German friend Eric Fulmar: to secure the rare ore that will power a top-secret weapon....

A great story, if not very pretentious
Revisado: 11-12-19
A historically accurate WW II fiction. It was enjoyable with a alot of sex and intrigue woven throughout. Typical of Griffin, it was full of vivid, bigger than life characters. The narrator did a great job bringing the pretentiousness of the high society characters to life. However, often he missed the right nuance tone of the sarcasm. While I prefer a gender mix of readers for the male and female characters, he did a respectable job with the woman. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Loved the book and Malcolm's new audio format. Some is hard to hear, but all of it is very worth while. Malcolms perspective really is fair and balanced with a strong logical foundation.

Historia
Few consumers are aware of the economic forces behind the production of meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Yet omnivore and herbivore alike, the forces of meatonomics affect us in many ways. Most importantly, we've lost the ability to decide for ourselves what - and how much - to eat. Those decisions are made for us by animal food producers who control our buying choices with artificially-low prices, misleading messaging, and heavy control over legislation and regulation.

You can tell he Author is a lawyer, not an expert
Revisado: 04-05-19
Listening to this book was like a teeter totter. The beginning was fact based on solid logic and evidence. As the story progressed, the totter flipped to emotional arguments relying on no or misattribution and in some cases disproven research, which he repeated over and over. His methodology for which studies or govt stats to believe or not, conflicted from the front to the back of the book. Is the FDA to be believed, or not? Decent attributution at the beginning, albeit to the same cherry picked studies, to none at all at the end. I lost count of how many times he used "many studies" without naming a single one. You can tell he is a lawyer by his extensive use of qualifiers such as may, might, could. He makes interesting points but his penchant for hyperboly diminished his credibility.
