Historia
A twisted tale of murder in the world of big-stakes bass fishing tournaments. Filled with ex-wives, evangelists, and an armed pit-bull, this is a story that could only be concocted by Carl Hiaasen, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, New York Times best-selling author, and czar of Florida noir fiction.

Historia
There are few moments in American history in which the course of events tipped so suddenly and so dramatically as at the Battle of Midway. At dawn of June 4, 1942, a rampaging Japanese navy ruled the Pacific. By sunset, their vaunted carrier force (the Kido Butai) had been sunk and their grip on the Pacific had been loosened forever. In this absolutely riveting account of a key moment in the history of World War II, one of America's leading naval historians, Craig L. Symonds, paints an unforgettable portrait of ingenuity, courage, and sacrifice.

I'm Surprised That I Listened To The End
Revisado: 06-28-24
There are so many things that annoyed me about this book that by hour 4 I was pretty sure that I'd stop listening before the end. The fact that I did not is credit to the author and the narrator. I like both accuracy and consistency. Here are a few of the many things that created a background of annoyance for this listener. The number of superlatives used was nearly infinite. During high action scenes, such as fights, the protagonist regularly engaged in repetitive internal dialog : a) repeating the problem and what was at stake b) wondered about the philosophy of one course of action over anther, and/or c) express self-blame and the reasons behind it. On the physical side: a) being knocked nearly senseless by an explosion in space?, or b) withstanding a massive rail gun round and then believing that a massive tentacle could fatally crush were distracting. On the military side of thing are also many similar inconsistencies. Obvioiusly, many many people loved the book and if you do not care about the same things I do, you'll probably love it too. I will not be buying the next title.

Historia
The tale of a young Green Beret medic, Vietnam combat veteran with the top secret Studies and Observations Group (SOG) who was recruited by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Schofield worked five and a half years providing medical support for the Hmong and other Hill Tribes who fought the CIA’s secret war in Northern Laos, and was among the last Americans to leave SE Asia in May 1975. It was a surreal time and place that would be impossible to even imagine today.

Stopped Listening After An Hour
Revisado: 04-25-24
Mr Schofield is a patriot that deserves everyone's respect and gratitude. He put his life on the line, for years, to protect our nation, our people, and our way of life. I decided to stop listening when Mr Schofield diverged again to into the realm of politics. Some political framing can be valuable but beyond that it becomes uninteresting. I lost interest and moved to another title.

A Very Well Told Story
Revisado: 04-20-24
A book full of real-life heroes! This is a story that so needed telling. Now I have a new respect for Mr Haldane. As a diver I’d heard of him during training. JBS and his team helped me enjoy the underwater world. This enjoyable book is very well written and performed.

Great Story, Great Author, Great Narrator
Revisado: 01-14-24
Abercrombie's characters and stories are wonderful. His characters come alive and his stories are compelling. Pacey is as good as they get. He delivers the stories in such a way as to make the characters completely distinct. When Pacey is narrating I never think about his delivery; this is untrue of many/most narrators. Fantastic combination, please keep'm coming! I wish I could just apply this review to all the books they've teamed up on.
