A great story to listen to while driving
Revisado: 06-12-20
The narrator, Brittany Carr, does very well in creating a soothing tone for the book. It gives the story an easy to listen to feel that makes imagining the scenes feel natural. The biggest gripe is her Middle Aged Man voice isn't as convincing as her College Coed voice, which is a very small problem to be considered the "biggest gripe"!
The story itself doesn't tread any new ground, but does make you care for the characters. Their situation is not "normal" to say the least, but it creates a teasing backdrop for the characters to develop and grow through the story.
I'll probably listen to it again when I need something soothing for the gym or similar.

My new Favorite Book
Revisado: 09-06-19
This is a masterpiece of urban fantasy, well worth listening to. The author himself reads the book with such emotive passion that you can't help but be drawn in to the story.
Somehow a rich world of wonders is built by showing only small portions, like peering into a candy shop through a keyhole. I wish I were as articulate as Gaiman is just so I can describe how good of a book this is.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Neil Gaiman at his best
Revisado: 07-26-19
Neil is a great author and narrator, and this book is another example of that. Norse mythology is an interesting topic, with many renditions. This Rendition is one of the most compelling & entertaining.
