a couple of plot twists were telegraphed well in advance, but it concluded with some great action and set up for the next installment of the series

I loved the first one, and had download book 2 right afterwards. The one annoying aspect was the poorly researched details regarding the virology, epidemiology, disease aspects, and general science of molecular biology of the Virus threat. As a virologist myself, every time characters referred to the "RNA" genome of the Smallpox virus (it is a DNA virus) I cringed with irritation. Made me wonder if his gun descriptions were accurate, or just about everything else that relayed technical descriptions in the story.

I enjoyed it up until the conspiracy was unveiled, which overshadowed the monsters threat, and was both unnecessary, contrived, and distracting to me to the end. Seemed to be inserted in as a shortcut to explaining the monster's origin and set up a sequel.

This vaguely reminded me of the movie "Jeepers Creepers" , one if my favorite horror movies. I know I like a book like this when I wish it provided more back story or origin information about the "monster" . I am not saying it didn't provide sufficient information for the story, but I would read a sequel if it dug into the origin deeper.

Theses stories always have a spot on commentary about the political and social world we live in, if only there were real people like Mitch

Where does The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Having listened to over 200 audiobooks, I would rank this one in the top 20 percent

What other book might you compare The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August to and why?

Where Ken Grimwood's "Replay" was philosophical, Ground Hog Day (movie) was romantic, Edge of Tomorrow an alien Sci-Fi take, this repeater played more like a crime/spy novel.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed seeing how each repeat was handled differently in each subsequent life

Any additional comments?

I enjoy seeing how each of the repeater story lines in books and movies has handled the mechanics of how the protagonist got into their near infinite do-loop, and how it operates. I liked how in "Replay" the repeat slowly winds down (but no explanation of how it works), Ground Hog Day (movie) seemed to have a supreme being element, Edge of Tomorrow blamed it on bad alien blood. This one doesn't offer an explanation of what is causing it, but I like the concept of mind jumping across alternative temporal dimensions as to the how its achieved.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Very slow to develop story and interest in the characters, probably could have used a good editing

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Took 25 chapters to set the hook, then took way too many detours on the way towards the exciting parts

Did P. J. Ochlan do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Good reader, voices matched the characters and made them more interesting than the writing

Could you see Old Earth being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It would be a better movie, increase the pacing

Would you consider the audio edition of Red, White, and Blood to be better than the print version?

The narration by Bronson Pinchot is outstanding, I had to go back and look if it was THAT Bronson Pinchot. He makes an already mesmerizing story Ultra-mesmerizing

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nathaniel Cade, he is a GOOD vampire, what else do you need to know?

What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His pacing is perfect, he distinguishes each character without tricks, he is the voice that anyone would want for their own internal narrator if they were reading it themselves

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending, in the epilogue (not giving that away)

Any additional comments?

Bronson Pinchot should narrate of every other audible book, okay, maybe that is overdoing it, but he should take turns with John Lee, Pete Bradbury and Ron Perlman. The Nathaniel Cade series is not the typical "Twilight" spawned romantic vampire drivel being churned out for pubescent goth girls. This is a story with intelligence that you can sink your teeth into.

Every element is a spoiler, a real chiller in the style of H.P. Lovecraft. A modern gothic classic.

Would you listen to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo again? Why?

The is the first time the movie version got me interested in reading the book, notmally it is the other way around, turns out this is the right way, as the movie will always disappoint after the book, but the book only shines brighter and brings out even more depth after liking a movie.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters are so vivid, and you hate the bad guys (from which there are many) and want to stand up and cheer for Lisbeth Salander when she dishes out their just deserts.

Any additional comments?

I immediately started the second, then finished the third installment of the trilogy. Bing, bang, boom, couldn't stop listening.
