Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Historia
Alfred of Wessex has survived the Danish invasions, but though he now has an uneasy truce with his enemies, fresh Viking ships are arriving to plunder and enslave the Saxons. Those Vikings must be defeated, and Alfred's first move is to deny them their fortress on the Thames, the decayed Roman city of London. His weapon is Uhtred, a warrior of formidable reputation. But neither Alfred's wisdom, not Uhtred's prowess, might be enough to save Wessex when a Viking lord captures a prize of inestimable value.

A Great Review
Revisado: 03-18-15
This was a good review of the Second World War. I think it would be useful for high school students or college students to get a little background knowledge of the war.

Historia
Bernard Cornwell, the New York Times best-selling "reigning king of historical fiction" (USA Today), tackles his most thrilling, rich, and enthralling subject yet - the heroic tale of Agincourt. The epic battle immortalized by William Shakespeare in his classic Henry V is the background for this breathtaking tale of heroism, love, devotion, and duty from the legendary author of the Richard Sharpe novels and the Saxon Tales.

Too few books like this
Revisado: 02-11-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is great historical fiction. It has a good pace and a story line that kept me wanting more. I wish there were more books like this. It was a great (and less dense) follow-up for me after listening to George R. R. Martin's "Clash of Kings"
Have you listened to any of Charles Keating’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Great voice! Changes it enough without it becoming distracting or cloying.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The battle scene at the end of the novel is worth it alone.

Historia
History for busy people. Listen to a concise history of World War One in just one hour. World War One brought with it the world’s first experience of Total War, involving all of the world’s great powers, polarized between the Triple Entente, led by Britain, France and Russia, and the Central Powers, dominated by Germany, Italy and Austria-Hungary. Around nine million men lost their lives in a conflict that introduced the horrors of trench warfare, machine guns, and toxic gas attacks.

Great Entry Into the Topic
Revisado: 02-11-13
Would you listen to World War One: History in an Hour again? Why?
I would. As a teacher of history, this is a great refresher AND I learned something new about the topic. It is logically put together and easy to listen to.
What other book might you compare World War One: History in an Hour to and why?
Both "Stalin" and "The Russian Revolution" by this author were really good.
