Brilliant writer, wonderful narration

Regarding the writing, It’s Edgar Allen Poe. They say he’s the Investor of Science Fiction, and I definitely believe that. Any fans of horror in any form (books, movies, etc.) will enjoy this. This is my first time venturing into Poe’s writing. That said, some stories I liked more than others. The Black Cat, M. Valdamar (probably my favorite) Brilliant narration. Definitely would recommend!

Fantastic Coming of Age Memoir

Some of the first things that sold me on this audiobook during the five minute sample was; 1) Dolly’s accent! Who doesn’t love an amazing British accent? 2) Dolly mentioning Morrissey! As huge a Smiths/Morrissey fan, I was sold!

During the first 15 minutes or so, she mentions a lot of talk about boys, and I thought that would be what the whole book would be about, and as a cis-het male, I thought I made a mistake.

But as I continued listening, I realize that anyone can relate to Dolly’s story. I recommend this to anyone turning 30 this year, as there are so many life lessons to dive into. Dolly truly has a magnificent voice, and it’s not just her accent.

Wonderful memoir from a Queen!

Viola Davis is triumph! I remember the first time I saw her, in the movie Doubt and thinking; “What an incredible actress!” Her story is so inspiring! Overcoming so much trauma to get to the success she has today. As an actor myself, I love to listen to actor’s stories, and hers was no exception! I even picked up some valuable tidbits along the way! Her legendary husky narration made me feel like stepping into a warm blanket, every time I got into my car to press play! What a joy! Would definitely recommend to my actor friends or any fan of her’s in general!

Get the Workbook that comes with it!

I was once involved in a variety showcase where I opened up the crowd with a five minute stand-up routine. To my surprise, it worked and I wanted to take it a step further. So, I think what I searched into Youtube was, "How to write stand-up comedy," something like that. That's how I came across Greg Dean. I liked his videos he seemed to know what he was talking about. He's worked with Anthony Jeslenik, which I thought was impressive. Since I don't live in LA where he teaches, I thought what the hell.

Well, I'm glad I got the audio version of the book so that I don't have to have a bookshelf full of clutter, but if you get this, you will be LOST without the workbook that he talks about. So I'll still have to add to my bookshelf anyway. Am I mad? No. I'll probably get the first workbook which covers the first two chapters, to see if I like it enough to continue with the rest of the workbooks, which I'm sure I will. I feel like I can learn something from him! But if you're considering getting this, just know that's it's a course. You can probably learn something from him too, if you try. Like with any class, you get what you give.

In summary, I recommend it. But I also recommend you get the workbooks, or you will be lost. I haven't even finished the whole thing because I just became too lost without the workbook in my hand, so don't take my 5 star rating at face value. I might update this review when I'm finished with it.

Amazing Narration

He did a wonderful job of playing the different characters with his voice. I absolutely loved it
