Historia
John Gotti was without a doubt the flashiest and most feared Mafioso in American history. He became the boss of the Gambino Crime Family in spectacular fashion—with the brazen and very public murder of Paul Castellano in front of Sparks Steakhouse in midtown Manhattan in 1985. Not one to stay below law enforcement’s radar, Gotti instead became the first celebrity crime boss. His penchant for eye-catching apparel earned him the nickname “The Dapper Don;” his ability to beat criminal charges led to another: “The Teflon Don.”

I've read or listened to many books on LCN. I've just listened to two of them back to back and they are, hands down, the best I've read. They are this book, the Gotti Wars, and Mafia Prince. Excellent stories from people who lived it. The audio performances are great as well.

Jeremiah Trent works as a Seattle homicide detective. When he’s contacted by a friend from his childhood, he packs his bags and heads to a mansion in remote Colorado. As he arrives at the best-selling author’s home, Jerry can’t shake the feeling it was a mistake visiting the people from his past. The mystery deepens when Jay offers them a chance to read his newest manuscript, one chapter at a time. He finds the story is their own from 25 years ago, only with different character names and a changed setting. Then a body is discovered by the local police.

Hystad keeps getting better and better...
Revisado: 05-17-24
Great story and great narration. Hystad's character development is always good but this one is in the "great" category. I was also pleasantly surprised with this one because I had not read anything from Hystad that was not science fiction. Obviously his talent is multi-faceted. Get this audio book; you will not be sorry.

Brilliant story
Revisado: 01-25-24
The Partisan is a great read / listen. The story is smart, engaging and believable. If you like the more realistic espionage or secret operations books, you will enjoy this read. Hard to believe that this is the author's first. For the audible version, the narrator displayed exceptional talent. I highly recommend.

Outstanding story; Outstanding narration. If you believe James Bond is real intelligence work and that's your expectation, then this book is probably not for you. If you are more grounded in reality, then you will love this story.

Historia
Giovanni's Ring is the story of "Giovanni Rocco," a New Jersey police officer, known undercover as "Giovanni Gatto," who was the mysterious agent at the epicenter of Operation Charlie Horse, a federal undercover operation that ultimately brought down ten members and associates of New Jersey's DeCavalcante Mafia family, the criminal organization known as "the real Sopranos."
