Historia
Integrating Faulkner’s screenplays, fiction, and life, Rollyson argues that the novelist deserves to be reread not just as a literary figure but as a still-relevant force, especially in relation to issues of race, sexuality, and equality. The culmination of years of research in archives that have been largely ignored by previous biographers, The Life of William Faulkner offers a significant challenge and an essential contribution to Faulkner scholarship.

OMG where is the Director or Author
Revisado: 01-28-23
I finally had to give up. While there is very good and new information, I was left wondering who edited this?! The structure is so confusing, so disorganized and disjointed. It's virtually impossible to follow. The narration is so bad, so bad I was struck wondering where is the Director or Author. A monotone delivery with no breath taken for punctuation and almost all of Faulker titles and characters mispronounced has really left me wanting a refund... FOR BOTH VOLUMES!

Historia
Shuggie’s mother Agnes walks a wayward path: She is Shuggie’s guiding light but a burden for him and his siblings. She dreams of a house with its own front door while she flicks through the pages of the Freemans catalogue, ordering a little happiness on credit, anything to brighten up her grey life. Married to a philandering taxi-driver husband, Agnes keeps her pride by looking good - her beehive, make-up, and pearly-white false teeth offer a glamourous image of a Glaswegian Elizabeth Taylor.

Tender retelling of childhood hell
Revisado: 01-09-23
The story is rough, really difficult to listen to, BUT it is told with such tenderness and pathos that somehow you will find yourself drawn into it.

Revisado: 09-10-22
I'm afraid if I begin to write a review, I will never stop. The story, language, cadence, texture, setting and narration of this book are beyond parallel. I always say... Proost is interminable, Joyce is impossible and Faulkner is challenging.

Historia
Esther Safran Foer grew up in a home where the past was too terrible to speak of. The child of parents who were each the sole survivors of their respective families, for Esther the Holocaust loomed in the backdrop of daily life, felt but never discussed. The result was a childhood marked by painful silences and continued tragedy. Even as she built a successful career, married, and raised three children, Esther always felt herself searching.

This story, I hate to use the word "story" as there is no fake involved here; is completely emotionally honest without a shred of self pity. It's truly stunning and inspirational.

Total disappointment
Revisado: 07-28-22
For long time fans, the latest firm Dan Silva is very disappointing. More holes than Swiss Cheese. The performance is ok, lots of errors which should have been caught by the director or in editing, but most complaints involve the story in general.

Historia
The passionate and tragic story of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff is one of the high points of 19th-century Romantic literature. In the relationship of Cathy and Heathcliff, and in the wild, bleak Yorkshire Moors of its setting, Wuthering Heights creates a world of its own, conceived with a disregard for convention and an instinct for poetry and the darkest depths of the human soul in torment.

Historia
Absalom, Absalom! tells the story of Thomas Sutpen, the enigmatic stranger who came to Jefferson township in the early 1830s. With a French architect and a band of wild Haitians, he wrung a fabulous plantation out of the muddy bottoms of the north Mississippi wilderness. Sutpen was a man, Faulker said, "who wanted sons and the sons destroyed him". His tragedy left its impress not only on his contemporaries but also on men who came after, men like Quentin Compson, haunted even into the 20th century by Sutpen's legacy.

Ambitious, brilliant, allegory
Revisado: 04-19-22
Not only is this book incredibly well written in scope and scale, but the narration is, without a doubt the best I have ever heard! James Joyce fans will find this easy to get through. Not a Joyce fan, no worries, it's stream of consciousness "light". perfect for the ambitious story structure, but not too tangential.

Not only is this story magnificent, it's perfectly told by the author. As Ms Brooks time travels she is very careful to choose each word and place it on the page making the transitions seamless. Ms Wren deserves every single possible award for her reading. The story is multifaceted including, gender. religious ethnic and temporal interpretations which the narrator handles with an ease and accuracy I found stunning ! Absolutely incredible!
