Historia
The mutiny on HMS Bounty, in the South Pacific on 28 April 1789, is one of history's truly great stories - a tale of human drama, intrigue and adventure of the highest order - and in the hands of Peter FitzSimons it comes to life as never before. Commissioned by the Royal Navy to collect breadfruit plants from Tahiti and take them to the West Indies, the Bounty's crew found themselves in a tropical paradise. Five months later, they did not want to leave.

Historia
Narrated through the eyes of the intimates of Suleyman the Magnificent, the sixteenth-century sultan of the Ottoman Empire, The Lion House animates with stunning immediacy the fears and stratagems of those around him: the Greek slave who becomes his Grand Vizier, the Venetian jewel dealer who acts as his go-between, the Russian consort who becomes his wife. Christopher de Bellaigue tells not just the story of rival superpowers, nor of one of the most consequential lives in human history, but of what it means to live in a time when a few men get to decide the fate of the world.

Very well researched and extraordinary detail. I would have preferred to hear more about the interaction of Suleiman and his children than was presented in this book. The reader was great.

Historia
In Exorcising Hitler, Frederick Taylor tells the story of Germany's year zero and what came after. Despite almost total destruction, a combination of conservatism, enterprise and pragmatism in relation to former Nazis enabled the economic miracle of the 1950s. And we see how it was only when the '60s generation (the children of the Nazi era) began to question their parents with increasing violence that Germany began to awake from its sleep cure.

Very detailed study of post-war Germany
Revisado: 01-12-21
If you were a war historian, this book is very interesting. Full of details, sometimes too many, but paints the most realistic picture of post-war Germany and how it’s citizens were treated by the allies of any book I’ve read thus far.

Historia
This is the definitive biography of the most powerful man in Hollywood during the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s, the man who founded The Hollywood Reporter and the most storied nightspots of the Sunset Strip. In the 30 years as Tinseltown’s premier behind-the-scenes power broker, Billy Wilkerson introduced Clark Gable and Lana Turner to the world, brought the Mafia to Hollywood, and engineered the shakedown of the Hollywood studios by Willie Bioff and his mob-run unions. He also helped to invent Las Vegas, tangled with Bugsy Siegel (and possibly was involved with his murder), and touched off the Hollywood blacklist.

Too much is unknown about Wilkerson
Revisado: 02-10-19
The author, Wilkerson's son knows very little about his father, Notes, records and other documentation is missing and the author admits this. A very simple tale of a man of questionable character who makes a lot of money in Hollywood...a fairly boring book in this reader's/listner's opinion.

Boring
Revisado: 03-16-18
What disappointed you about Natural Born Heroes?
A lot of talk but no action...
What do you think your next listen will be?
a good murder mystery
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
narration ok; just no real story
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Natural Born Heroes?
can't answer...could not get beyond 1/2 hour
Any additional comments?
If you are going to write about natural born heroes, fine but be sure to relate some stories with a degree on continuity. This story jumped around and made little sense of the title.
