Exceptional story of life during the Civil War

A Story of perseverance, courage, heartbreak, faith and hope during the Cicil War.
Captivating, is one word to describe the story woven throughout Wedded to War. From the first page to the last the characters come alive, the historical facts create authenticity through female heroines that is rare in historical fiction. Jocelyn Green has once again created an epic thought provoking novel for readers to learn of the history of America, during a time of turmoil while sitting in their favorite chair.
Exceptional is the word for the audiobook. Just an hour into the audio I was finding excuses to keep my ear buds on to continue listening. The narrator’s voice inflections create true emotions in each of the characters. Her ability to portray personality through her audio reading, at times, takes the listener to her living room as she personally tells a story, and at other times the listener becomes someone living during the Civil War.
As with all of Jocelyn Green’s books, I highly recommend this book.

Heartfelt Historical Fiction

Jocelyn Green has woven historical facts about the horrific battle of Gettysburg into the lives of a young widow, other women, doctors, and injured soldiers. The descriptions of the battle’s aftermath and deep emotions of the characters pulls the reader into the events. The reader feels like these are real people living in the midst of tragedy, just trying to survive.
In this book the author is able to turn the hatred, lies, prejudice, fear, pain and loneliness so many experienced during the Civil War into a story of the power of forgiveness, faith, hope and love.
The audio of of this book is done extremely well with the correct emotions, accents and pauses where appropriate. It was like sitting in a room having the characters relate their story to me.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire Heroines at War series and any others written by Jocelyn Green.
