Historia
Former Army Ranger Pierce Hunt is no stranger to violence. Fresh off a six-month suspension, he’s itching to hit a notorious Mexican drug cartel where it hurts, even if that means protecting crime boss Vicente Garcia, a witness in the case against sadistic cartel leader Valentina Mieles. But things spiral out of control when the cartel murders Garcia and kidnaps his granddaughter and an innocent bystander, Hunt’s own teenage daughter.

Boring, couldn’t finish.
Revisado: 04-28-25
In my opinion, this is a cheap “tough cop” knockoff. I gave it two hours on a long drive, and got so bored I shut it off. Not my thing at all.

Historia
The ancient city of Troy has withstood a decade under siege of the powerful Greek army, who continue to wage bloody war over a stolen woman - Helen. In the Greek camp, another woman watches and waits for the war's outcome: Briseis. She was queen of one of Troy's neighboring kingdoms until Achilles, Greece's greatest warrior, sacked her city and murdered her husband and brothers. Briseis becomes Achilles' concubine, a prize of battle, and must adjust quickly in order to survive a radically different life, as one of the many conquered women who serve the Greek army.

Tragic but lovely
Revisado: 04-24-25
I enjoyed this book. I love great epics from Rome and Greece, and the telling from a women’s perspective is not as common as the men’s. I do think there were some chapters that were kind of overly repetitive, but that may fit with the true life of a woman enslaved at the time. ***spoiler alert*** the daughters death to appease Achilles after his death was hard to listen to. Overall enjoyed it

Historia
From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation.

A liked the book better when I read it
Revisado: 04-21-25
I’ve read this series many times and always loved it. I thought for a change that I would listen to it instead. I have to say I like it MUCH better when I read it myself. I don’t know if it’s the narrator or what. I think it’s that they should have had a man read Alexies part instead of the woman. Great story either way. Love Anne Rice!

Historia
Born on a plantation in Charles City, Virginia, Pheby Delores Brown has lived a relatively sheltered life. Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world. She’d been promised freedom on her eighteenth birthday, but instead of the idyllic life she imagined with her true love, Essex Henry, Pheby is forced to leave the only home she has ever known. She unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the bowels of slavery at the infamous Devil’s Half Acre.

Very well written
Revisado: 04-17-25
I currently live in the Richmond area and stumbled on this book as a suggested read in Goodreads. I really enjoyed it. I loved that the author talked about her inspiration of real people at the end, it really tied things together. Narrator/performer was okay.

The brothers grim stories are some of the best, so I figured having them read to me would be so fun. But the guy who read it was TERRIBLE!!!! His voice and inflections started to make my skin crawl!

Revisado: 03-27-25
I really liked this book, I’m gonna continue the series. Lots of mystery and secrets, and so good romance. The seven sisters idea is very fascinating, but we really only got one of their stories, I’m sure there is a lot more to go. Lots of unanswered questions I’m exited to find out about!

I’m sorry, but I was so bored
Revisado: 03-16-25
I don’t want to come off as disrespectful, but I really did not enjoy this book. I didn’t feel there was adequate character development, and the “killer” wasn’t a surprise. I only kept listening because I’m a sucker for British accents, but I was truly very bored.
