A recurring theme throughout the series. Pincushion kael continues his story, the story would be much better if we weren’t constantly having to read about kael being weakened and stabbed every 2-3 sentences.

Overall, is a great second part

Like the last book, there is a lot of parts that allow for needless dialogue/information.

But overall, once you muster through the parts of this book that drag on for a bit too long, the book is just as good as the first. Which is sometimes hard to repeat.

The growth and development of the characters is great.

But the fact some faith was left in some… questionable characters does break the story a bit at the end.


Overall, a good book, that is definitely worth the credit.

It’s good, but prepare yourself

The payoff of this book is 100% worth it,
The last 3-5 hours of the book definitely show off what the MC has achieved.

But you have to go around 30 hours+ to get there.

30 hours of the MC getting his butt beat by everybody, of him lamenting how unfair the world is, and you honestly get to listen to each step he takes each day, like literally.

The author really makes everything extremely unfair for the MC, but like I said, it all kinda fits in at the end, making for a great opening for a second book. (Coming soon)

It’s kinda pointlessly long, but that’s a small complaint, you can honestly skip a lot of the dialogue and training and really not miss much. The author has a tendency to bring back up old conversations so you always will be filled in.


Overall, if you got the patience to listen to almost 40 hours of audiobook this is a good book to listen too.


Nick did a wonderful job of voice acting as always.

This book is almost the exact twin to the iron prince, like if you took away all the technology in the iron prince series, and put them more in a medieval setting, this would be it.

A stinker

This was a major stinker.

The story doesn’t progress much, it’s mostly just a word salad of uselessness.

Every interaction with the MC side characters goes like this “she wants sex, she does something animalistic sexually, more sexually oriented stuff, end scene move to next girl”

And that is EVERY single interaction.

The first two books in this series were great, they were fresh, new and exciting. Each conversation had a realistic feel and movement to it, each new scene progressed the story in an interesting way.

Than the third book came out and the author brought in these extremely overpowered characters who invalidated the entire cast from previous books,

And now in this book it continues, this was a terrible book, the series has really sucked and honestly isn’t worth picking up.

No new characters are really introduced in this book (I’ve got 2 hours left but I’m doubtful anything good can happen)

The story is stale, is garbage (really, the MC talks about garbage most of this book, that and drugs. Nothing interesting or dynamic about it. Just boring and stale)


I’m very surprised nick podehl even did this book, has limited characters, and the voice acting is passable at best. Nothing creative.

Just wow, this one was a major stinker.

the book has a good plot,
daughter dying, dad needs cash, finds a way to make money, gets a great character in game, and starts to utilize it to his advantage.

but the actual story is EXTREMELY boring, EXTREMELY detailed in pointless aspects, and just a major snore fest, ill try out the second book, but honestly if it keeps this tempo up you would be better off finding a different book.

Great series

Was a long and twisty adventure,
Watching this MC get trapped, sentenced to death, recover, and start this adventure from 0 all the way to the end.

I loved this series, the 7th book got slightly stale but ended with a “wtf” moment, and the 8th book brought him back.

A lot of questions were not answered in these last 2 books, which unfortunately does leave a sour taste.

I know the author has said it’s completed but I do hope he returns to explain or finish up some of the unanswered mysteries.

Overall this book series is worth the time, and credits/money.

This is almost a complete waste of time. Rowe completely let me down on this book.
It is almost not even worth getting to continue the story... its extremely boring and rough to get through. i found myself skipping most parts of the book. total snore fest.

If nick hadn't been reading this, it would have been a strong pass.

Rowe better give nick a big bonus, because he is the only reason this book has some redemption to it.
