Historia
For most of Hailey Magee’s life, people-pleasing came so naturally to her that she didn’t even have a word for it. When somebody wanted something from her—even a stranger—she gave it, no matter how uncomfortable, exhausted, or resentful she felt inside. People-pleasing, she learned, was a coping mechanism that had kept her physically and emotionally safe in the past, but wreaked havoc on her life in the present—and she was committed to breaking the pattern once and for all.

Transformative
Revisado: 01-15-25
I went through this book with my therapist over the past six months. We did it slowly so I could focus on the exercises as well as the reading and I could not have imagined or been prepared for how transformational this book was for me. I know it will be a lifelong commitment to staying away from those previous people pleasing patters but the tools this book gave me to notice the signs as well as compare and contrast ‘the before’ and ‘the after’ gives me such confidence in my own abilities. And not to get too gushy or dark but I’m actually really excited for life for the first time instead of just waiting for all of it to get over with. I am living the life I’ve always wanted but was too fearful to admit to or strive for. I cannot praise this book enough! Blessed be on your journeys!

Historia
It’s 1857, and anxious debutante Beth has just one season to snag a wealthy husband, or she and her mother will be out on the street. But playing the blushing ingenue makes Beth’s skin crawl and she’d rather be anywhere but here. Gwen, on the other hand, is on her fourth season and counting, with absolutely no intention of finding a husband, possibly ever. She figures she has plenty of security as the only daughter of a rakish earl, from whom she’s gotten all her flair, fun, and less-than-proper party games.

Not without drama or hoops to jump but this is a sincerely happy ending. So grateful to have a fairytale queer period piece! I cannot wait for the next book!

Xanth lives rent free in my brain
Revisado: 12-21-23
I love these old stories! Xanth was the first true chapter book series I ever read. I can no longer physically read books anymore so finding these was amazing. I’ve missed these characters and this land.
I will say I had forgotten how misogynistic certain aspects of the storytelling are.. in the same way like talking to a grandfather. It’s not in a malicious manner just.. Dated and not great.
The land of Xanth itself makes up for those shortcomings and I am so glad I was able to visit it again. My heart has truly missed it.

Charlotte’s apartment
Revisado: 05-07-22
Enjoying your reviews so far. Not sure you’ll see this but yes Charlotte’s apartment is the same one she received from Trey in their divorce.
Also while I like Steve very very much as a person I’ve never thought he was actually ‘right’ for Miranda.. she definitely settled emotionally. She’s always been such a ridged character with her self awareness. Always checking boxes and comparing herself. Thinking that if I’m one thing I have to be this other thing too, or if I’m this than I can’t be that.
I have never once in the series seen her twitterpated like she is around Che. She’s googoo like Carrie chasing that Russian. But it’s more than just Che, she’s reevaluating her entire life and I don’t see anything wrong with that.
She definitely should NOT have cheated on Steve but it makes me sad when people are so mad at her for changing and learning more about herself as a person. She’s always just done what she’s supposed to, a little robot with a finite number of commands. It’s been great seeing her open up and explore the world again with fresh eyes. Not saying Che is ‘the one’ for her in the long run but Che was a necessary bomb to grab her attention, force her to take a breath and look around.

Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

Truly enjoyed this book and the insights it gave us into the other characters and storylines. I very much hope she continues to write Edward’s point of view through the rest of the series.

Amazing
Revisado: 04-14-20
This story has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. The reading that Ms. Cook provides is truly magical and brought life to St. Clair Robinson’s tale of a journey down the Tokaido. I highly recommend this book either in print or audio!
