Historia
Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there. The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed. His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk. A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

Not my favorite
Revisado: 01-30-25
When did Jack go from being James Bond to being a virtue signaling Austin Powers?
Sorry, but I feel like this book is not particularly well written, and certainly not up to par with the series.

Historia
General George S. Patton, Jr., died under mysterious circumstances in the months following the end of World War II. For almost 70 years, there has been suspicion that his death was not an accident - and may very well have been an act of assassination. Killing Patton will take listeners inside the final year of the war and recount the events surrounding Patton's tragic demise, naming names of the many powerful individuals who wanted him silenced.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-30-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, the story was interesting, and there was a fair about of information presented.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
A little fact checking would be nice. Bill thinks that General Patton went pheasant hunting with a rifle. Nobody bird hunts with a rifle…..
Would you be willing to try another one of Bill O'Reilly’s performances?
Probably not. Though I always try to listen to books that are performed by their authors, this was a bad performance. The reader obviously did the reading in one take. Words are mispronounced, train of thought is occasionally dropped, and he couldn't be bothered to do it better on take two.
Could you see Killing Patton being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes…. a bad one.

Historia
Captain Robert Scott’s final journey to the South Pole has been called one of history’s greatest tales of adventure. And his journals are among the most dramatic and moving documents in the English language. Sensitively read by David Horovitch, this new audio adaptation starts in 1910 as Scott's ship, the Terra Nova, sets sail from New Zealand. Then in vivid, conversational style details the dangerous journey through the ice to Antarctica, the winter hibernation in 24-hour darkness, and the final journey to and from the Pole.

Definitely worth the read.

What did you love best about Scott’s Last Expedition?
This is no story, this is a reading of Scott's diary. As such, there is plenty of missing back story, but you can find that elsewhere. This is the very moving tale of a group of very brave (some might say unprepared) men.
They died the way that they lived.....

Historia
Often called the greatest novel ever written, War and Peace is at once an epic of the Napoleonic wars, a philosophical study, and a celebration of the Russian spirit. Tolstoy's genius is clearly seen in the multitude of characters in this massive chronicle, all of them fully realized and equally memorable.

An Epic Tale
Revisado: 07-24-13
Would you listen to War and Peace again? Why?
I would. This time, I would start with a list of featured characters and take important notes as I listened.
What did you like best about this story?
What I liked bast was the authors ability to keep me engaged throughout the entire saga.
Have you listened to any of Frederick Davidson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Any additional comments?
This book is the calculous of war. It is war broken down into it's most minute slices and described in detail.
Although some of the characters seem so naive by todays standards, when taken in the proper context they spring to life.
It's epic. It's incredible.
