Potential if You can Grind through Narration
Revisado: 12-09-24
I didn't make it very far through this set.
The narration is absolutely horrible. Just know that up front if you're going to listen to this you're going to need to have something to drink. And I don't drink. It is so robotic than an AI would sound better.
The murder starts out pretty solid but the protagonist feels clumsy and poorly written. A high school rivalry between the protagonist and the local police leave something to be desired. The best friend who appears to be well off financially trying to give her a business while she looks for a job is a nice touch except for she keeps repeating she's looking for this job, ad nauseam.
I'd say I'm really disappointed in Tantot Media with this.

Spring has sprung, and I'm finally getting out of town with my monster-hunting boyfriend. However, our cozy little rental cabin in the woods turns out to have a serious problem—an angry leprechaun infestation. Before we can get back to our romantic rendezvous, we have to prove we didn't steal a magic hat. Piece of cake, right?

Cute but VERY Short story
Revisado: 08-23-24
Like the other .5 titles in the series, this one feels a bit like a quick snack rather than a full meal. It’s nice, but I can’t help but feel these would be better as free additions, podcasts, or bundled together in a box set with the main books. I think the whole series would be more satisfying as one complete package, so we don’t feel like we’re missing out on anything.
This was a cute, short story with just as much charm as the little leprechaun it features. Amanda Ronconi does a great job, as always, with her narration, making the characters come alive. However, I was really hoping this would give us a little sneak peek into the next chapter for Rosella and Orion, but it turns out this is the last story in the series, which is a bit disappointing.

Even if it's INCLUDED/FREE don't bother.
Reader: Aris can't or doesn't incorporate any voices or inflections. Think Alexa reads your kindle. A producer is mentioned, I wish I'd noted his name, just know he's not supporting the author to produce her work at Audible expected level.
Author: The story isn't too bad. I didn't look before I grabbed it, but based on writing, it's aimed at the 4th grade crowd. A new and improved editor could solve that and easily bring the writer into the cozy book niche. If you are reading above 4th grade level ... it will annoy you. It would probably be less annoying if the Reader was a Performer.
I was looking for a fun new series to try. This seemed to fit the bill. I tried twice. Honestly mostly the reader but hard to fully tell.
Sadly, I didn't get it returned fast enough or it's a freebie.

Bailey rushes to Harvest, Ohio, where her grandparents still run Swissmen Sweets, an Amish candy shop. She finds her grandfather is doing better than she feared. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for a local Englisch developer, whom Bailey finds dead in the candy shop kitchen - with Jebediah King's chocolate knife buried in his chest.

Aweful Narrator - I quit less than 5 minutes in
Revisado: 01-25-21
I've listened to 3 other Amanda Flower books. My library is over 700 books on Audible.
Stiff, no flow, mechanical. I'll return it and pass on anything else where Rebecca Mitchell is the narrator.
This is the first time I've quit in less than 5 minutes.
It wouldnt allow me to leave the Overall and Story blank since this review is really about the narrator. Rating the author a single star didn't feel right so I chose the middle ground.

Solid Storytelling. Rushed Incomplete Ending.
Revisado: 11-06-20
Well read. A few editing snafus; daughter instead of granddaughter. Really rushed ending that left me with lots of unanswered questions.
The author came to a rather abrupt ending. During the story the dead woman's husband was never contacted.
I was left wondering his side and how he wasn't at least a resource.
After solution, still no mention.
Loose ends galore.
Why a skull and crossbones?
Why did the main character never report the attacks on herself? Victim mentality?
How does a small car push a Suburban off the road?
Over all, I'll try book 2.
Maybe experience will fix the rough spots.

Many "big" pauses.
Revisado: 09-28-20
So I found this series entertaining as long as you're not OCD about details.
Agatha gained a cat and suddenly she's back to only having two.
If you're mind tracks details like mine does you'll find the lack of continuity frustrating. I don't know who the editor is but they aren't doing a service to this author. It's rather obvious they haven't actually read the books.
But in Covid-19 with wildfires surrounding me they are distractions.

No Dates - Outdated
Revisado: 07-06-20
I just subscribed July 5, 2020. The most updated Digest was May 2020. Many, most, articles had no date.
I thought this subscription would give me daily digests; news that was preferably less than 30 hours old.
What use is a Daily Digest that's months old?

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.

Not Book 4 or 3. Probably Book 1
Revisado: 12-25-18
This is definitely book 1 or 2 not 3 or 4 as Audible suggests.
It's slow to get rolling due to character and backstory development. It's a struggle to get to the middle where it finally takes off.
The research seems weak, leaves one questioning the time and dates, but if a first book, understandable and even forgiveable. As a 4th book, it would certainly lead to questioning the writers skills.
In this book, Simon and Deborah are not a couple, while in the first 3 they are married. Here we learn the history of Linley and Deborah in first person; 3 books into the series??
As you listen you'll find the inconsistencies frustrating if like me, you read a series in order.
I've looked, apparently, this is seen as book 4. Seriously read it first.

Fast Forward - Narrator Annoying
Revisado: 11-26-18
Fast forward ....
I found I was hitting fast forward - often. Which means I wasn't meditating.
For me I could have handle the narrator had there been less chatter. Let the music guide. If interjection is desired place narration under the audio slightly. Soften it up.
