Historia
When a young man is found frozen to death on a Highland street in mid-December, DCI Jack Logan initially puts it down to a Christmas night out gone tragically wrong. But, when a postmortem reveals something more sinister, Jack discovers he is dealing with a cold, calculating killer with a long line of victims, a talent for torture, and a perverse sense of justice.

Fun Characters, great story lines.
Revisado: 05-05-24
I wasn’t totally ‘hooked’ until the author made the decision to continue the character development of Olivia and also Detective Superintendent Houn. The story line is far more entertaining with their presence. I am very much committed to finishing the series.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

This classic is a beautiful piece of literature that I couldn’t have waded through if not for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s wonderful reading. Very glad to have another of Tolstoy’s works in my library.

I am a huge fan of this series. I first learned about it by seeing the made for TV series, but knew that, as always, the books would be better. Each novel is packed with suspense, comic relief, artfully developed characters and deeply layered story lines. You won’t be disappointed.

What lies in the hearts of men
Revisado: 11-08-20
This story of the lives of prison guards is gritty and believable. No punches are pulled in the descriptions of what life is like for the men and women who take on that responsibility. The dark side of humanity cannot help but seep into the people who face it every day.

Lisa Wingate spins a tale like no other. Before We Were Yours is a story that ties a real-life 1950’s scandal to present day as a young woman takes leave of her family’s expectations to solve the mystery of her aging grandmother’s secret life. This story incites every emotion, from anger and horror to sadness and loss while interjecting small victories as the story brings the protagonist full circle. Highly recommended!

Wish I'd have had this book years ago.
Revisado: 07-18-17
It is, at its core, a well crafted set of guidelines for mothers whose children are active duty military - both stateside and deployed - but beyond that, this book is a call for the support of our armed forces, and a reminder to the world that all military personnel are somebody's daughters and sons. It is written with the decorum and eloquence that only a military parent can provide. Thank you, to the author. I wish I'd had this book many years ago. And thank you for YOUR service and sacrifice.
