Historia
Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark’s seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven’t ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla’s midst who don’t believe her ascent to power was earned.

this narrator might be the worst and the story wasnt much better.
Revisado: 01-08-24
I have listened to over 500 hours of audible and that might be an understatement. I have earned every badge that can be earned. I live and breath fantasy romance. With that said this is quite possibly the worst narrator I have ever heard. Unbearable. It took all my might to finish. she sounds like she was a radio voice who never lost her cadence. Ever sentence read with the same pattern. The story isnt much better. I feel like if someone started with this listen they would never read a fanatsy romance again. I have never written a negative review but this was infuriating.

I felt as though I had lived a full lifetime
Revisado: 05-21-23
The detail in the book is exquisite. The development and care given to each character is tender. I am exhausted. It feels as if I lived an entire life in someone elses shoes. I am glad to have known Alma, but I doubt we would have enjoyed being friends.

Better than I could have imagined
Revisado: 09-11-22
I loved it. Could not put it down. Maas has created a complex world with so many possibilities. Beyond the romance, this book is filled with adventure and horror and action. She has made a heroine worthy of our respect that also brings out the complexities of the people and world around her. Though at times the story and its characters can fall into trope, there is so much newness to this world she has created that it is easy to forgive. Im very excited for the next book.

This isn't s masterpiece, but it does leave you with more questions than answers , which in this case, is exactly the case. This is a fun and quick read, but maybe too much sex that wasnt necessary for the plot?

What a journey...what a character
Revisado: 12-20-19
I couldn't stop. The story, the characters, the detail...it was beautiful. Eleanor is cranky, mean, painfully observant, childish, surprising, and willing to grow and change if its the right thing. I think I fell in love with Raymond but was annoyed alongside Eleanor with all his quirks. What I loved most about this book was how I really could see things as Eleanor from beginning to end. Not one part of her journey is wasted. Amazing writing.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

great book...needed a better ending
Revisado: 10-03-18
The author tried to be philosophical but it fell flat. She did a better job explaining her point of view through plot and action. The ending felt cheesy, which is unfortunate because the reat of the book was raw, gritty, and had a great sense of realism. Glad I read it. Also...performance was good.
