Historia
What if your first love came back on the scene...30 years later? After yet another disaster, Lorrie is calling time on online dating. She might be single in her 40s, but she's got a good job and wonderful children, and she's happy. This, Lorrie decides, is going to have to be enough. That is until she receives a very unexpected request from France. Antoine Rousseau, who had once turned a lonely French exchange trip into a summer of romance, wants to see her - after 30 years.

Historia
The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family’s tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

Excellent performance
Revisado: 03-13-20
The actor’s performance is one of the best I’ve heard on Audible with beautiful accents to match the characters.
I did find it challenging that there was no verbal cue between the present and past but after awhile I was more attuned to it.
A great story.

Historia
"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way" famously begins Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, and it is from this classic observation that modern master Carlos Fuentes weaves together sixteen vignettes of families, from the Mexican presidential palaces to the middle-class apartments to the places of the poor. In the language of the street, and in straightforward, elegant prose, Fuentes gives us stories connnected by love, including the failures of it - love between spouses, lovers, parents and children, siblings.

Well done but be prepared for sadness
Revisado: 07-10-12
Any additional comments?
Good narration and colorful story telling. But it was difficult to listen to so many sad stories.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you like lots of details about anatomy, physiology and nutrition, this book is for you. I wish it came abridged as it was hard to listen to. It felt like a medical school lecture.
