Third one is a charm

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-05-11

Best and latest in this series. It focuses mostly on the point of view of "Comet" Parker (Space Navy Pilot/Engineer) as she wrestles with a new posting among many other things. There is a great blending of humor throughout. Overall, a well deserved five stars!

More of the same

4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 04-29-11

Nice continuation of the overall storyline however it basically follows the same basic outline as the previous books which might bore some readers/listeners.
Frankly, I was disappointed with the first fight in this book because Gin announces herself to her enemies before attacking them which seemed very unlikely given the situation and the fact that shes an assassin. Jennifer goes on and on about how Gin slips from shadow to shadow silently ... and then she gives up her chance for a surprise attack on purpose - not very likely or wise. But it sort of fits to the pattern. Gin seems to have a death wish and only succeeds with luck and the convenient late minute thought and action that saves her in the end.

Fleet has a sluggish start ...

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 04-29-11

Nice start to the continuation of the Lost Fleet Series. However, I was disappointed be a couple things. First, the narration overruns more then in the past. For example, two characters will be having a conversation and then abruptly it will be the next day and something else will be happening without any pause. There were a few times it was very disorienting.
Secondly, I was disappointed that Alliance politics took up the first quarter of the book. I guess Jack Campbell wanted to create some suspense and mystery but it just confused me. I guess I was hoping the politics would all be shuffled off to the other spin-off series but I guess there is a point to it in the end.

Great Paranormal Story

Grave Witch is a well rounded paranormal novel. It has fresh ideas among the paranormal genre and has good paced action. Looking forward to more of this series.

More of a romance novel

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 04-04-11

I found this to be a decent paranormal romance novel. Just be forewarned its about 75% romance, 5% action, and 20% related to the paranormal setting and characters. There is room for sequels if the author decides to do so.

Classic or reduntant?

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-03-11

If you have read previous books in this series, which I recommend, then you should know that book follows the overall storyline but doesn't really make much of an impact. If you have enjoyed the planetary drama of previous books, then you will probably love this one. Personally, I feel that Kris's willingness to stick herself in boiling kettle repeatedly despite everyone's urging not to ... is unrealistic and crazy - Longknife or not. However, I'm still looking forward to Kris's adventures beyond the rim and into unknown space.
