Long time Fan feeling reluctant
Revisado: 09-25-23
Ive read/listened to every series MGM has written. Although dark at times , Ive always appreciated his tasteful style in execeuting the subject matter. He seems to have lost some of that sophistication in this book as it is the most lewd story yet- even over Tyrions terrible life- MGM did not so crudely deliver. I did not enjoy the homosexuality either, which happened to come shortly after a very disgustingly traumatic event for the character (big surprise) Because Im so invested in MGM stories Im giving 3 stars forstory, 4 stars overall, 5 for performance.. and I will continue to listen. The ending was epic! There were alot of good storylines and growth frm our beloved characters. This book did me better than the last which took me weeks to rexover from. What can I say? im a loyal fan at the end of the day. Buuut If this salicious woke narrative persists however, I may re-think my commitment . As always Tim nails it ✨️

The story of the first Illeniel wizard continues. Tyrion's life among the She'Har had become quiet, but the sins of his youth have returned to haunt him. The Mordan wardens have discovered one of his children, and the other groves are racing to find and claim the rest of his illegitimate offspring. How did I get involved in such a tale?
Revisado: 02-09-23
Spoilers!!!
This story is stuff of nightmares. Children forced to fight til the death in an arena for entertainment for the She-Har. The story continues w Danielle's children who have his magical capabilities also. Kate also gets tangles in this twisted world of the She -Har?! I mean wth?!! How could things get so bad and awkward ? And Danielle is living out his new reality as Tyrion. Hard, numb, full of anger with all that's happened to him and now his children. Don't get me wrong the way Manning delivers the story w Alex's narrating is top notch! It is good, just dark. I found myself thinking more than once on how I got involved in such a tale as this? I love fantasy! But not usually of this sort. But I guess that's changing🫢 I cld not stop listening. I crushed this auiobook in 2 days. I'm here for it! Onto book 3.

I know this series is gonna break my heart like Art of the Adept did. But can't stop won't stop😅 Michael Manning whyyy?! The story was harsh, heartbreaking, and cruel, yet somehow beautiful, hopeful, and oh soo bewitching. If someone were to describe this story to me, I wld be horrified. But Mannings artful story telling paired with Alex Wyndams narration is the perfect vessel of delivering such a tale. I'm in love with this universe. True nerd getting the chills when Tyrions archmage powers are coming on. I listened to Art of the Adept and Mordecai 1st. I can't get enough!

After finishing Wizards Crown, the 5th book of Michael Mannings Art of the Adept series- I felt a lil leary bout this one. It was def dark n depressing in the beginning w Mordecais transformation. Buuuut it picked up w hope and love and adventure. This was an epic series! The tone stayed true to the rest of the books- "Stupid never dies" 🤣 I love Mordecai even more and I forgive Manning for breaking my heart with Wizards Crown. Im led to the very beginning with Embers of Illeniel. I havent read those yet. Here we go🍿

Dark but not bad-
Revisado: 12-19-22
Edited to a add- * Its been a week since I finished the series n I cant seem to shake the feelings of sadness and depression about how this story turned out* Looking for a palate cleanser but nothing has worked. Proceed with caution. I regret nothing.
Spoilers ahead. What a stark contrast to the earlier books when the bad things going on still seemed lighthearted and our dear characters were young, hopeful, and happy. Not so much the case in this book. It picks up quick and takes you on a wild ride of darkness where we see Will struggle w who he is becoming. He is caught in an epic pickle w enemys at every turn. I didnt like all his decisions, some were painful! but nothing like what Selene did- The Worse! EventhoWill has killed people I honestly think killing inmocent cbildren is worse 🤷♀️ Im glad he left her. It was also painful watching their relationship fall apart. Is this the final book? Manning fans will be pleased at the Mordecai cameo, it was a treat indeed(How did he get to that point? im still reading that series) Yes the book was dark, depressing, and left you feeling sad- Buuut it was EXCELLENT. Kinda llike life 😅 I love this universe and its magic constructs. This series is phenomenal, eventho it lost its whimsy. I enjoyed how the books all tied together w Lunyon being the ultimate enemy. N Eevie was my fav! All in All well worth it! I loved it!

You can really feel how Mordecai, Penny, and other characters have grown and matured since the last book. I am stoked Mordecai resisted temptation n remained faithful to his wife and fam. Really enjoyed the book! The story grabs hold of you and doesnt let you go. The ending was heartbreaking ! Left me wanting answers and just more! Cant wait for the next book. For now - Wizards Crown, Michael Mannings newest in his Art of the Adept series. The narration is perfect! I stumbled on Michael Manning last yr n Im so glad I did- like finding a pot of gold.
