Duel Narration
I don't think I'd recommend this to just anyone, but I loved it. Anytime I thought I found a reason to bring down the rating even by half a star, I found a reason as to why that reason sucked. The explicit sex scenes are involving BDSM kinks and should be known about before purchasing. The relationship between the FMC and the MMC are worth it. This book is significantly better than the last novel by Ali.

I went in fairly blind regarding the plot and I genuinely believe that would be your best option. There is a long list of trigger warnings if that's a concern. check out reviews on Story graph to see the fast list. Some are listed and are not as impactful as they appear.
The narrator did an amazing job flowing between voices and bringing this story to life.

eagerly awaiting book 2

There is spice in the book. Most rom-coms these days do. I really enjoyed the narrators performance and finding voices for each character. Easily could be a standalone, but leaves room for an ongoing bigger story of romances that will be more enjoyable following start to finish.

This would be a great holiday transition book. If you aren't into the spooky, then before Halloween. If you spend all of October reading spooky, then leave this for November 1st-December 25th.

reread 3-4 previous books

unless you have a fantastic memory, this book involves so much from the last 3-4 books that I would have benefit from a reread. If you're binge reading, this rating would be higher. As always, the audio narration is fantastic.

duet style smut

I was not expecting the erotica smut level based on past Ali books. I hate duet style. Those two mixed together made this a rough experience. The actual plot is probably less than half of the book and easy to figure out the end. The FMC was read like she was unlikable, and based on the writing, I couldn't figure out if I was also supposed to not like her like everyone else? I was confused because I did like her and actually relate to her neurodiversity.
I wish I had read the book instead of listened.
The male narrator has a great Irish accent though. I'm glad he was able to utilize it.

This was just okay. However, if I went off my normal ratings, I'd go lower because I just wasn't prepared for the graphic audio smut. Certain side audio additions felt unnecessary and would have made my reading experience better without. If I continue with book 3, I'll probably just get the Kindle instead.
