Moving Account
Revisado: 03-15-24
I wasn’t sure how this story would turn out but it was told very well. The writing was respectful and factual but also intriguing. I’d recommend to anyone who likes history, true crime, and responds to their responsibility as an American to familiarize themselves with the horrors committed against native tribes.

Historia
For Milo, everything’s a bore. When a tollbooth mysteriously appears in his room, he drives through only because he’s got nothing better to do. But on the other side, things seem different. Milo visits the Island of Conclusions (you get there by jumping), learns about time from a ticking watchdog named Tock, and even embarks on a quest to rescue Rhyme and Reason. Somewhere along the way, Milo realizes something astonishing. Life is far from dull. In fact, it’s exciting beyond his wildest dreams.

Historia
Today Grover Cleveland is mainly remembered as the only president to be elected to two non-consecutive terms. But in his day, Cleveland was a renowned reformer, an enemy of political machines who joined forces with Theodore Roosevelt to fight powerful party bosses, a moralist who vetoed bills he considered blatant raids on the Treasury, a vigorous defender of the Monroe Doctrine who resisted American imperialism.

Some Reservations
Revisado: 10-20-23
I was intrigued by this book and didn’t know much about President Cleveland’s life but I didn’t like how women were portrayed in this book. The discount of the perspectives and dismissal of claims made against him by women is not an accurate cross section of history. Even good people make poor choices. It does historical figures no favors to heroify their actions. People today need to understand the high points and low points of those people’s lives even if the details aren’t pretty. If you are looking to be entertained, this is a good book. If you are a historian looking for an accurate evaluation of President Cleveland’s life and actions, this is not the book for you. You need to do your own research after reading this book.

Historia
The book that changed the consciousness of a country - and the world. Landmark, groundbreaking, classic - these adjectives barely describe the earthshaking and long-lasting effects of Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique. This is the book that defined "the problem that has no name", that launched the Second Wave of the feminist movement, and has been awakening women and men with its insights into social relations, which still remain fresh, ever since.

Historia
By legitimizing bigotry and redefining so-called American values, a revived Klan in the 1920s left a toxic legacy that demands reexamination today. Boasting four to six million members, the reassembled Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s dramatically challenged our preconceptions of hooded Klansmen, who through violence and lynching had established a Jim Crow racial hierarchy in the 1870s South.

Enjoyed Class Requirement
Revisado: 09-21-21
I am a history undergraduate and I loved this book. It shed light on what the 2nd KKK was really about. It helped me better understand Colorado history as well as the tactics used by right wing groups today.
Even though this was a class requirement, I would definitely recommend it to others.
