Cute love story with strong female characters

This story, while a bit fantastical, is still somewhat believable and relatable. I love how strong and yet vulnerable the characters are. And yay for neutralizing gender stereotype’s! The only area for improvement is in the sexual tension/chemistry, where there really isn’t very much. I would love to see the author work more on bridging chemistry between characters. The author almost seems as shy about that as the main character does about expressing emotions. The poorly placed fade-outs left the scenes on less than a cliff hangers where the scene just inconclusively stops. And the missing postcoital chitchat is critical and yet largely missing as well.

Story is good, Performance is Terrible

I’ve owned this series for at least 10 years but recently bought the audible version and am regretting it. What a disappointment. All the New Species male characters sound ridiculously angry in a very stilted way and the most of the women sound like complete bimbo idiots. It’s SO hard to listen to this without cringing. I ended up reading most of the story on my kindle instead.

This was a fantastic story and the production is sound. I would love to hear this as a full cast production and/or a movie! My better half is a writer and I love the relatability. It leaves me wanting more and also wanting a behind the scenes insight.

Holy Consent Issues

This book is AWFUL. If you’re an SA survivor, I highly recommend skipping over this. This book is riddled with not-at-all sexy consent violations and it’s appalling. This author clearly doesn’t understand a damn thing about consent. I can’t believe this was approved for publishing.

Love the story, Voice Actors are Good, but clearly produced on a budget

I love this series. It’s so funny and warm and fuzzy. Although as the series goes on, the formula is a bit old but, I’m still going to finish the whole thing. And the voice actors are decent (especially when the male voice actor plays Zed!) however for an audible original, I expect a full cast and not this 2 narrator cheap shortcut. The producers need to stop this weird alternating male and female every chapter. I find myself lost and knocked out of the story every time the chapter changes. And the fake high and low voices are distracting. If you’re going to hire a male and a female voice actor, at least let them play the character of similar masculine and feminine roles! It’s these alternating voices that make me buy the books in kindle for instead many times.

Just ok

The story was going good for a while, but the writer seemed to lose steam half way through and just wrapped the ending rather abruptly, without a whole lot of detail. And the production was clearly on a budget with only a 2 person staff. I hate the alternating male and female voices. It’s confusing as hell to listen to. If my other half hadn’t pre-purchased this without my consent, I wouldn’t have bothered.

The narration switch is so distracting

This book is great but the narration is so distracting and inconsistent between the two narrators. Why bother with two people of it makes your production so inconsistent? And the fake male and female voices make me feel like I’m watching/listening to a high school production, albeIt a higher-end production, but still… why? If you’re not going to higher a full cast then at least make the characters have consistent voices.

I love this story!

I’ve read this series in book form for years. Our whole family loves it! But the production is great! I loved listening to the characters being brought to life.
