The Hobbit is of course a wonderful tale, and here it is read beautifully by Andy Serkis. His voices are subtle and incredible. You know exactly who is talking as soon as he starts a line. This is a wonderful way to experience the Hobbit.

This is the best way to experience the books. Andy Serkis is of course a master of voices especially his own gollum, but his narration is clear and confident in a way that few readers would be with a work such as this. 10 stars out of 5.

Did you grow up in the evangelical church?

Wow. This is an important book. I can’t really express how much this book is a must read for those of us who grew up in the evangelical world. It’s a shock, but an important one. The American church as a whole needs to take a really hard look at the direction it’s going. Are we following Jesus or someone or something else?

Take the red pill

In 1999 the Wachowski brothers introduced us to the world of the Matrix. A world wherein all people are living in a world of lies that are taken for granted until you are offered the choice to take the blue pill and go back to sleep, or take the red pill and wake up to a new reality. This book is the red pill. So much of what I/we have taken for granted about the way our government is financed and the looming debt functions is completely wrong. This book is super exciting and informative and a real wake up to the sad truth that we are wasting time talking about how our government can pay for all the things that need to be done, instead of how we are going to do them. This book has given me a lot to think about and to wonder what I can do to try to move us forward and start making the future we have all been dreaming about.

Racism is not gone, it’s not defeated, it’s so baked into our identity and history as a country that it’s going to be incredibly difficult to finally kill. This is a truly eye opening book to begin understanding just how deep racism goes in the world and in our country.

This book is important. I can’t think of a more important book for people to read in our incredibly politically charged world right now. Learning the importance and the impact that the way we interact with those whom we disagree is vital to our future. Beyond all of that this book is incredibly engrossing in the amazing life change that it chronicles. Read it now.
