self-agrandizing and not very helpful for business.

this was a below average biography of a hound company. Tom enjoyed shairing with the reader about his many successes and how he always seemed to make money. personally didn't take away a ton from this book and was very excited for it to be over.

No other country has a greater network of internal waterways, a greater command of deepwater navigation, or a firmer hold on industrialization technologies than America.

Historia
The guru to the gurus at last shares his knowledge with the rest of us. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman's seminal studies in behavioral psychology, behavioral economics, and happiness studies have influenced numerous other authors, including Steven Pinker and Malcolm Gladwell. In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Kahneman at last offers his own, first book for the general public. It is a lucid and enlightening summary of his life's work. It will change the way you think about thinking. Two systems drive the way we think and make choices, Kahneman explains....

Historia
In 1972, Sears, Roebuck, and Co. was America's greatest store, accounting for over 1 percent of the gross national product. Suddenly, profits plummeted and the stock price collapsed. Sears was at civil war and in need of a new leader. In 1978, Edward R. Telling became the Sears chairman, and by 1984 Sears was back on top, bigger than ever. Telling turned things around so dramatically it seemed like a miracle. But the resurrection of Sears as a great American merchant was no miracle, but the result of the power, vision, and will of strong leadership.

Reminded me of 'what it takes'
Revisado: 09-29-20
Definitely struggled to finish this book. Many parts of the book reminded me of Steven schwartzman's What it Takes. While it may have been poor communication or my lack of understanding, Benioff seems like a person who is post rationalizing a story of serendipity with agency and intangible values with personal preference. But what the heck do I know! I've never met the guy. maybe he's right. either way, I didn't like the book It seemed littered with cognitive dissonance.

Historia
In this book, Amy Webb reveals the pervasive, invisible ways in which the foundations of AI - the people working on the system, their motivations, the technology itself - is broken. Within our lifetimes, AI will, by design, begin to behave unpredictably, thinking and acting in ways which defy human logic. The big nine corporations may be inadvertently building and enabling vast arrays of intelligent systems that don't share our motivations, desires, or hopes for the future of humanity.

Not really my cup of tea
Revisado: 10-08-19
if you like books that try to predict the future than maybe this is for you. Web does an okay job explaining aspect of the nine, but then jumps into three scenarios about what the world could look like if A.I. is left unchecked. I don't know, for me a book is far more interesting when the author explains what is going on currently and then tries to give simple solutions for how we might solve the problem or think differently about the problem. Trying to paint a picture of the future, especially three scenarios, seem like the author wanted to make what should be a 100 page research project into a 300 page resumè booster that also might put some money in her bank account.

Scientific developments radically alter our understanding of the world. Whether it's technology, climate change, health research, or the latest revelations of neuroscience, physics, or psychology, science has, as Edge editor John Brockman says, "become a big story, if not the big story". In that spirit this new addition to Edge.org's fascinating series asks a powerful and provocative question: What do you consider the most interesting and important recent scientific news?

very few timeless and insightful articles.
Revisado: 01-16-19
The presentation and pace of the audiobook were very good, nevertheless only about 10% of the contributor's seemed to talk within their area of competence.
I don't know anything about Brockman, but either an unintentionally or intentional bias reoccurres throughout the book, making the curation of the articles very poor given the title of the book. Over I would not recommend this book.
