Unique Fantasy Storyline

I love finding fantasy that isn't the typical werewolves, witches, dragon riders, etc.
This is Death, gods (though not a big part), and destiny, if you will. I found the story very intriguing. The characters were pleasant and unique to each other. I loved the FMC and MMC, and the slow burn. I'm always here for the twists. It was much longer than I expected.

Great Easy Listen/Read

A refreshing, easy read. It feels like every book I've read lately consists of 75% sex scenes and 25% storyline. This had cute romance, attraction, and some tension without feeling ridiculous.

SPOILERS PAST THIS POINT.

I love that Elliot wasn't your typical macho man, and Jesse wasn't your typical average looking woman. I was pleasantly surprised the reveal of exactly who she was and how he might not like her, didn't explode into unnecessary drama. It made me respect Elliot that much more. Great read and look forward to checking out more by Cara Bastone.

Great Refreshing Read

I've been in a lull of late, and needed something refreshing and not all smutty. This was perfect. The story was a great blend of Mallory's family life and her relationship with Nick. It wasn't too focused on one or the other, but both tied in very nicely. I loved that it wasn't loaded with sex scenes in every chapter as it seems a lot of adult romance books go that way now a days.

This was exactly what I needed for an easy read/listen to get me back into the reading vibe.

Overall a Good Read

I enjoyed listening to this series.
Overall it was well written, there was enough new aspects to the story that separates it from other fantasy books. I didn't mind Rowan's overall personality, and I liked that she was stubborn in a good way.
Evanders view comes in in the last book and I was pleased with his personality as well. I didn't feel annoyed with either of them more than I think was intended.
The storyline was long, and occasionally I felt it was drug out a little too much. But it definitely hit me in the feels at times too. There is violence that was difficult to listen to and reminded me of Outlander, but I appreciated it because it kept the book from being sappy.

Performance: Olivia King is FANTASTIC at voiceovers. Her ability to switch tones, accents, etc. carries over so well in the story.
Adam Gold is known for having a deep burly voice and I enjoyed his narrating. My only critique would be to end his sentences with more fluctuations at times. It was predictable how he was going to end each paragraph or couple sentences. Which for most wouldn't be bothersome but once I heard it, I couldn't unhear it.

Great Read And Listen!

The voices were *chefs kiss* perfect.
I also loved the story line. It was just different enough from the typical storyline that it kept me interested. This was a great listen while I clean.

Good Read

I enjoyed the story. It wasn't right up my alley of interest, but I didn't suffer listening to it. I felt the female narrator had weird fluctuations/tones, and the men all sounded the same and talked slow and kind of dumb sounding. Other than that I felt it was a good read to pass the time.

Narrators Cold Goes Away, it's WORTH listening too

The narrator has a cold the first 11 ish chapters, and then it gets better. Stick through it though, because it gets MUCH better, and the story is worth it. I have been needing a book like this for some time. It is well thought out, well written, not too slow or too fast, and ends in a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. Hurry up November!!! I can't wait to read Iron Flame...

First book I have really truly enjoyed a long time

Between the storyline and the performance of this audiobook, I could not put it down. this is the first time in quite some time that I have really enjoyed listening to a book. or overall enjoyed a book. I am excited to listen to the next one!

The storyline was very engaging, and well thought out. I enjoyed the characters and didn't find any of them to be annoying like happens a lot of times. I also enjoyed that it wasn't filled with sex throughout the entire book.
