Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

#4
Revisado: 05-30-24
The fourth installment in the Bob-verse is a good read. I preferred the previous books but his was fun too. the only criticism is that the subplot was more interesting than the main plot.

Historia
The Coalition is reeling. New Vega and its other worlds have fallen beneath the boot of the newly allied Savage marines, and the death count continues to rise at a staggering rate. One thing is clear: The war to come will be a fight for the very survival of the species. For both sides in this conflict, now is the time to become what fate, and victory, demand. The Savages - post-human monsters who believe themselves to be gods - are intent on remaking civilization in their own violent and pathological image. Yet their alliance is tenuous.

half 2001, half Gaunts Ghosts. I understand the need for the background on the savages. but it did not have to be so surreal and told in a dreamlike state.

waaaaay too much filler.
Revisado: 10-27-22
All the story elements of The Empty Men and The Stone Giant would have made a good book. So many drawn out scenes. So many paragraphs of the same mental struggles and recoveries. And then telling the same scenes over again, just from someone else's point of view. That technique can work, but here it was not needed. Also, a time stamp would be helpful when you start to narrate events that happened a year ago, and then resume present time.

Historia
Nobody knew where it came from. Nobody knew why it came. When an eight-foot-tall man made of stone appears in the middle of a busy city center one July afternoon, two-bit (and antisocial) reporter Andy Pointer assumes it's just a publicity stunt. Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

I really enjoyed it
Revisado: 10-31-20
while it has a strong sci-fi theme, it's actually more of a thriller. this is accomplished mostly through the author's writing style. I find myself saying "get on with it" offer, but not because it drags. it's because I want to know what happens next. well done.

Historia
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

good, but misleading title
Revisado: 06-28-20
The performance is good and there is a lot of info. but it would be more accurate to call it the history of alcohol's role in civilization. it doesn't even get into talking about actual bourbon for the first 4 chapters.

A for effort, but not a great finished product.
Revisado: 06-20-20
They tried to bridge the gap between old time radio shows and audio books and ended up doing neither well. Great concept, but some of the time you can't hear critical dialog over the sound effects. There is no indication of when the scene changes so you end up being "how did they get there?". Some of the complicated scenes would have benefited from a narrator. I still don't understand what happened in the climax scene. Also, there is no spelling out of who the characters are. The heavy Ausie accents make you confuse Grahm and Gran for the first few chapters.
