Decent story, dry narration

The story is unfortunately rather slow simply due to amount of detail that Kim puts into it. the narrator, however, makes this story drier than Isidis Planitia in M year 1.

Awesome book to finish an awesome trilogy

This book does a terrific job of wrapping up the trilogy, while still leaving A TON of room for spin-offs, tie-ins, sequels, and prequels. I can't wait until the next book in this universe is released.

Thanks to this series, I now want to be a Von Neumann probe when I grow up!

I was legitimately upset when it ended.

This story is so engaging, and the narrator absolutely NAILS the delivery. I was genuinely upset when it ended as I was so enthralled in the story that I didn't realize I was near the end. I can't wait to start book 2, and I really hope the rest of the series isn't too far off.

Great story, dry narration

The story, as others from The Foundation Series, is a fantastic work of early science fiction. However, unlike all the other audiobooks in the series, the narrator for this is monotone, dry, and utterly fails to include the depth of inflection that bring the characters to life. Instead, the characters all sound very ambivalent, regardless of the situation, and the only clues as to their possible emotional reactions must be derived from context.

Great story

The story was incredibly engaging, one of my favorite books from Card to date (I've listened to all of the Ender series books, save these prequels). Only complaint was that some of the characters sounded very similar when voiced by one narrator, but those characters only appeared in one chapter.

Lacking audio quality

The book overall is good, however, this one has markedly poorer audio quality than previous installations. There's also several points where it is apparent they overlaid new audio where Scott Brick had mispronounced "hegemon", however, they did not replace it in all places, nor did they successfully match the audio. The result is quite noticeable and abrupt as the quality changes suddenly for a few words, then reverts back to the bass-heavy mix that is heard throughout the rest of the book.

While it is far from making the book impossible to listen to, it does detract from my ability to enjoy it as much as I find myself distracted by the poor audio quality.
