Modern and Relatable

Chemistry, romance, steam we’re all excellent. What really hooked me was that the main character was the one who had to change her thinking, several times actually, until she got it right. In the beginning she feels justified for her views and is confidently “adulting”. But as the story progresses she is confronting with multiple opportunities to realize how much maturing in her relationships she has to do. Narration, of course, was amazing.

Unexpected Gem

It’s not that I think the narration was bad, it simply wasn’t the best match for one of the characters. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the romance!! The political bullsh#t of their jobs was, unfortunately, very believable. This one is an unexpected gem of a story - Tiff A

Uniquely Layered

This is the story that I keep coming back to. Yes, Brittni’s narration is fabulous, but it is the depth of the characters and their experiences that come across as so layered and definitely, so original. This book, while it does have great heat, is not your typical feel good story. It’s really real - almost too real for the genre. But that is what keeps me listening to it over and over again. It will always have a special place in my literature heart.

The narration is superb, the witty banter is so smart (like West Wing A Sorkin smart), and the romance is achingly beautiful. You will laugh out loud, tear up, and swoon.

Jericho Grows Up!

I really loved how these characters stretched when confronted with relationship and community issues. You could see all the characters blossom into 3-dimensional beings. Such a good (and meaningful) journey.

A Treasure

Nico is a wonderfully fresh and flawed main character who seems to be part charmer and part train wreck. While you cheer for her hopes with Sophia you also cringe as you watch Nico stick her foot in her mouth. The supporting characters, a true strength of Kris’s work, are delightful in their emotional honesty and provide such a contrast to Nico’s crisis of conscience. What I really love about this story is that all the angst comes from the choices of one character rather than some outside settings or circumstance. The journey is a front row seat to falling in love, feeling the heat, flames that burn, love through art, and the art of love.

Fantastic!

I loved every part of this book! The premise of returning home post divorce is believable, the main characters are well defined, and supporting characters are a delight. The subtle ‘Easter eggs’ to her previous novels and nods to the ‘Earpers’ are a joy to discover. And who doesn’t love the mystical bond between kids and dogs? Even though the genre ensures the main characters will fall in love, every Kris Bryant book is a fresh and unpredictable journey of how they get there. So very good!!!

Great Character Development!
