Historia
A disease of unparalleled destructive force has sprung up almost simultaneously in every corner of the globe, all but destroying the human race. One survivor, strangely immune to the effects of the epidemic, ventures forward to experience a world without man. What he ultimately discovers will prove far more astonishing than anything he'd either dreaded or hoped for.

Not much going on for all that happened
Revisado: 08-18-17
What was most disappointing about George R. Stewart’s story?
The story was simply too long for a whole lot not happening. Time passed, events happened, but hardly anything was very striking. The main 'important' events you saw coming clearly and so passed without much impact.
What aspect of Jonathan Davis and Connie Willis ’s performance would you have changed?
The main performer said his S's -really- hard. Like whips on almost every word. It began to wear on me quite early and made many sentences screech to me in a way.
What character would you cut from Earth Abides?
I cannot think of anyone to cut, but Ish was rather quite the jerk. He was sexist, bipolar, he expressed a supremacism over everyone else and just came off conflicted with his own thoughts back and forth twice in every paragraph. Like -constantly-. It was tiring to take anything he first said seriously knowing he was going to think himself out of it...and usually back again.

Just didn't make a whole lot of sense
Revisado: 03-16-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Unfortunately no. Even if they've read the others this was the hardest one for me to get into.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Interesting. Obviously still going forward but I think this is where I'll lay the series to rest.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Nope
Did Ex-Isle inspire you to do anything?
To discontinue a good series that seems to be running out of solid ideas.
Any additional comments?
There were sadly a few highly irritating setups in this story that repeatedly grated against me. Early on there is a decision made that makes no sense for the rest of the entire book *at all* -especially- with Stealth's incredible brain that we've all come to respect over the rest of the series. At least for me, every situation involving a particular character's even existence in this situation just grated on me. Last book was a bit weird and low on the action/fun scale, this one had a pretty terrible setup with a contrived plot that made no sense in certain respects.

Unfortunately very repetitious
Revisado: 09-18-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The last hour had me so angry I wanted to turn it off. Not only did a few conversations end up downright ridiculous considering the characters' circumstances, but tension forced through character stupidity is about as grating as it gets when being displeased with a story.
What could David Moody have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Strip out unnecessary dialogue. Too many conversations were repeated again and again with a whole lot of 'I don't understand?!' and 'What's going on?!' dragging out obvious points.
Have you listened to any of Gerard Doyle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Do you think Them or Us needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. Because of the ending and I also felt like this story could have been half as long since many conversations were repeated and needlessly drawn out.
Any additional comments?
I like the core story, this just had a lot of fluff and some of the characters acting illogically, which hurts MY head.
