Home in Three Pines
Revisado: 02-19-25
I have pretty much listen to each of these mystery novels in the sequence they were written. although it is possible to enjoy this excellent novel on its own, i was very glad to have a list to the series an order.
As one listens or reads them in order. the charters become friends and Three Pines a fictional home. Penny is my favorite mystery writer and this work does not disappoint. it may be the best thus far, but i would not be able to appreciate it so much. Had I not gotten acquainted with these characters in sequence and over time.

Historia
Retired publisher Susan Ryeland is living the good life. She is running a small hotel on a Greek island with her long-term boyfriend Andreas. It should be everything she's always wanted. But is it? She's exhausted with the responsibilities of making everything work on an island where nothing ever does, and truth be told, she's beginning to miss London. And then the Trehearnes come to stay. The strange story they tell about an unfortunate murder that took place on the same day and in the same hotel in which their daughter was married fascinates Susan and piques her editor's instincts.

Historia
When editor Susan Ryeland is given the manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has no reason to think it will be much different from any of his others. After working with the best-selling crime writer for years, she's intimately familiar with his detective, Atticus Pünd, who solves mysteries disturbing sleepy English villages. An homage to queens of classic British crime such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, Alan's traditional formula has proved hugely successful.

in German this was called a Rahemgesichte, a story framed like a picture inside another story. A double success. Double the fun and interest. Both narrators are 100% perfect.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

Beautiful Sisters and Beautiful Story
Revisado: 08-17-24
I am a convert Catholicism, and while I appreciate having the family Catholic, I am disappointed that the author's understanding of the faith is shallow, because Catholicism is beautiful and opens the heart and mind to God and his transcend love. But overall I recommend this beautiful novel and was sad when it ended.

Millions of Amor Towles fans are in for a treat as he shares some of his shorter fiction: six stories based in New York City and a novella set in Golden Age Hollywood. The New York stories, most of which take place around the year 2000, consider the fateful consequences that can spring from brief encounters and the delicate mechanics of compromise that operate at the heart of modern marriages.

The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Historia
In this Audible Exclusive production, Academy Award® nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) narrates one of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Sense and Sensibility. In this timeless tale of misguided romance and heartbreak, two teenage heroines must overcome the pitfalls of Georgian England’s high society in order to achieve the love and happiness they seek. The admiration that Pike has for Austen’s work is shown clearly through this passionate delivery of Austen’s first published novel.

Too anti-Catholic!
Revisado: 03-28-24
I converted to the Catholic Church in 2016, and have come to realize that anti-Catholic hate is nourished by superficial understanding . I have listened to several titles in the series and have simply ignored Leon's bigoted anti-Catholic views because they reveal only shallow atheism but narrate good mysteries with a fine narrator. But this silly anti-Catholic story is a "bridge too far." I'll read a few paragraphs in the Catholic Catachism instead and benefit far more. A wasted credit.
