No suspense in this second edition. Hopefully this improves with the third book as I really liked the first.

Very slow
Revisado: 10-04-22
I probably won’t be continuing with the series..this book was really slow and felt like filler, but the main reason is due to the characters..they all just get on my nerves and I’m not seeing growth from them at all. Plus the way his female characters are portrayed is rather insulting (every single female is either jealous, conniving or both!). Started out as a good series, but I’m tapping out now.

I loved this series, but this..
Revisado: 11-13-21
Felt like filler. I agree with the other reviewers..too many stat updates in the middle of a fight! I also thought the epilogues were weird addition (since he hadn’t done that before) and the content could have been conveyed in a better way? I’m probably still going to get the 4th book on the hope that this was just a blip.

Historia
Over a hundred years have passed since a group of violent killers went on the rampage, murdering innocent victims for fun. But even back then, sorcerer Nate Garrett, aka Hellequin, knew there was more to it than simple savage pleasure—souls were being stolen. Nate's discovery of the souls' use, and of those supporting the group's plan, made him question everything he believed.

Favorite Book in the series thus far
Revisado: 08-30-15
This book was excellent, if you have been following Nate, you'll enjoy this one as it finally answers some questions (and of course raises a few more!). Nate was back on his game in this book and not making as many stupid choices as he did in the previous one. I won't add any spoilers, but if you have enjoyed the series thus far this is worth the credit!

The lines. No ship can traverse the void without them. Only linesmen can work with them. But only Ean Lambert hears their song. And everyone thinks he's crazy.... Most slum kids never go far, certainly not becoming a level 10 linesman like Ean. Even if he's part of a small and unethical cartel, and the other linesmen disdain his self-taught methods, he's certified and working. Then a mysterious alien ship is discovered at the edges of the galaxy.

I wish I could hear the Lines...
Revisado: 07-28-15
I loved the universe that the author was able to create (which I thought was really unique). The main character was very believable and I was glad that unlike some books where the main protagonist is discovered to have a talent and everything suddenly is too easy for them, Ean had to work for it.
Ovearll this was a really good book and I can't wait to read book 2!

Great idea, but the angst was a little too much..
Revisado: 07-28-15
Overall I thought this story had some really good bones and I really liked the premise. Strong female protagonist who also happens to a hacker..deep space..danger, you get the picture.
What ruined this for me was that the characters were way way too emotional! I know this is supposed to be a YA novel and teenagers are angst filled and their emotions are all of the place, but this was little too much In one sense we are expected to believe that in this new world kids going to University at 15-16 is the new norm and they are mature enough to do all their course work to prepare for school pretty much unassisted, but they are not mature enough to do make basic logical decisions. That took me out of the story a lot because this dichotomy kept happening over and over.
Also, just like I don't really like all good characters and all bad (since people have plenty of shades of gray) this author seemed to only be able to give the teenagers in the book dimension and not any of the adults. All of the parents were awful, wish seemed very contrived and unrealistic. I would have liked to have seen one adult portrayed as a decent human being!
This is entertaining and if you can get past all the emoting then you might enjoy the listen. The narrator was excellent so he did save it for me.

Revisado: 07-10-15
Sigh..I had high hopes for this and had it on my wish list forever, but this was a little boring and predictable to me. This was too much like a time travel book to me and I admit that is not my favorite type of novel. It was entertaining, but that was all.

Historia
With an un-cursed prince and king back on the throne, Sevana goes back to her usual routine without worry. But her peaceful days don't last for long. A hunter from a small northern village comes to her, pleading for help. The people in his village are disappearing during the night, transported great distances in their sleep, and they don't know why. Transportation magic such as this hasn't been seen since the days of great magic, hundreds of years past.

A little slower, but still good
Revisado: 05-08-15
The third entry (to what I've read could be a five part series) allowed other characters (besides Simon and Meg) to take center stage. We didn't see the growth I wanted in their relationship, but we did have major foreshadowing of what could be in store.
Solid offering, but hope for more of Meg and Simon in the next book.

Historia
Caden DeSarro is what they call a chubby chaser. He likes his guys with a few extra pounds on them. So when he meets Kevin Dodge in a bar bathroom, he can't help but stare, even if he does make an ass of himself. As far as Caden is concerned, Kevin is physically perfect: a stocky bearded blond with a dick that's just right. (They met in the bathroom - of course he looked!) But Caden gets tongue-tied and misses his chance.

It has such promise too...
Revisado: 08-27-14
Well...if you like me listened to the preview you probably thought you were going to get to read a novel with a fair amount of humor, good sex, and a little bit of angst...
Well..that is maybe the first 1/3 of the book...it was great. Funny, good sex scenes, real characters (with normal vulnerabilities, etc) and I was excited to see where the story was going and then we got to the second 2/3 of the book and I can say is that was just a HOT MESS!!
I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the story really devolved and we are left with reading something that reminded me of YA novels (just with way more sexual references!).
Save your credit... much better books out there that deal with this storyline.
