Historia
In his explosive new book, New York Times best-selling author Bill Gertz uncovers the most significant threat to U.S. national security today: America's enemies, including radical terrorist groups, are arming themselves with the world's most dangerous weapons. And they're doing it with the help of America's supposed allies. Worst of all, the United States has let it happen.

Treachery - reactionary is more like it

If you like your news from Fox, you'll like this screed. Intersperced with what probably are some good points and true facts are piles of steaming right wing screed. Everyone that has a different opinion from us is our enemy, and the US never did anything to arm our enemies. What about Rumsfield travelling to Iraq in '89? Where did those weapons come from then? How about the CIA coup of the democratically elected Iran in '53?
If you like your international politics clean and simple, enjoy this tale. Then go get some freedom fries.

Historia
Long known as "the world's only private citizen with a foreign policy", George Soros combines his razor-sharp sense of economic trends with his passionate advocacy for open societies and decency in world politics to come up with a workable, and severely critical, analysis of the Bush administration's overreaching, militaristic foreign policy.

Great perspective, solid facts
Revisado: 01-13-05
Of course Soros is a liberal. Conservative reactionarieis may call it "dumb", perhaps they should actually listen.
First half of the book is pre-election, but the facts are the same even though Bush won. A pleasure for us lefties, a review of the "why not" for others. The second half is Soros' world view of Open Societies, a more challenging listen, more controversial, forces you to develop your own opinion about what America actually stands for.
I recommend if you're a leftie or not.

Historia
For more than half a century, the United States has been pursuing a grand imperial strategy with the aim of staking out the globe. Our leaders have shown themselves willing, as in the Cuban missile crisis, to follow the dream of dominance no matter how high the risks. Now the Bush administration is intensifying this process, driving us toward the final frontiers of imperial control, toward a choice between the prerogatives of power and a livable Earth.

Absolutley recommend. Not because I accept 100% of what he says, we all have the responsibility to make our own conclusions. But he gives great perspective on the application of power and the tradeoffs we all make. A challenge to apply critical thinking.
Use an alias? If the justice dept is checking library records, they might be interested in who listens to this....
