For years, Isobel Latimer has composed serious novels for serious people, but to dwindling acclaim and ever-more dwindling gain. Now her husband is ill and she must carry their financial burden alone, and in secret. But if the public don’t want careful moral fables any longer, why not provide an outrageous tale of sex and satanism, and an author to match? The incomparable, uncontrollable Zelda de Vere is born.

I've always loved the lipa Gregory's work since the very first time I picked up one of her books. different times different subject matter and yet women's lives just the same, they're sacrifices for causes they feel dear to them. then the decisions that they make and how they choose to live. the shocking and surprising and yet completely, yes, completely justified ends.
brilliantly written, perfectly paired with transcendent narration. I had completely forgotten it was a book and that I wasn't just listening in on a life that was unfolding in the mind's eye. I missed meals and sleep and I couldn't get enough of this masterpiece of a novel with the insight of a scholar.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

storyline is mind blowing
Revisado: 01-02-23
author captured the mind of a sociopath emphatically claiming the logic of fautless behavior they have engaged in.
I felt as though I was hearing an actual matter of fact confession of a truly twisted criminal, so well written it deserves a trigger warning for immersing the reader in authenticity of explaination by way of one that cannot ascertain what is amiss with the rest of the world that it can not see the logic and necessity of their actions.
coupled with the narration of this performance, my mind was truly blown. I want to go right back to page one and start over again just to feel as though the horror of certain moments did not leave me unable to process key elements in the story.
for a novel so well written and conveyed, to pull me in so completely, on subject matter that made me shudder and yet i was compelled to listen to the very end...Bravo! Bravo!

Historia
As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

Delight, insightful in a way I was not expecting!
Revisado: 11-16-22
I am fan, but i wouldbhave to call myself a casual listener of U2. There most known songs have woven through the sound track of my life, with one exception. I have often said if I had a theme song to my life what I feel I stand for it would be One, by U2. I gleaned something from the song that I learned was not at all what was intended, and yet where it began was exactly where my mind took it to.
learning of Bono and the band's journey through music, activism and life as a boy, a man, husband, father, as part of a band, I feel I better understand what makes the bond between these people really work, and how it has bled into the lives of so many others through time and across the globe.
performed by Bono himself gave it an intimacy of feeling like a confidant, hearing a confession, a prayer. I have a new found respect for Bono and the band that far surpasses anything I ever thought I knew about them, and it came from what was said, but far more from what wasn't.
BRAVO!

They call it the Bone Box. A collection of old cases, solved and unsolved, that continue to haunt forensic pathologist Birdy Waterman. None is more disturbing than the first. After two decades, Birdy still remembers the screaming. The blood on the boy's hands. The body of a girl, butchered in the woods. Birdy's testimony helped put her own cousin behind bars. performance perfection!
Revisado: 10-20-22
I loved the narration! the cadence of accents. the story was so well written, together, it brought the tale to life perfectly.
l am amazed at how, although it's a short story, it feels rich and layered and as deeply satisfying. as a full length novel. would love to here more from this character's cases in the future.
