Stunning...a wonderful listen...a handbook for life. Those words of advance praise from another celebrated author scarcely convey just how powerfully mesmerizing is the latest book by New York Times best-selling author and nationally syndicated radio talk show host Larry Elder. Dear Father, Dear Son is a personal memoir of Elder's troubled - one might even say tortured - relationship with his father, and the astonishing outcome that develops when Elder, at long last, confronts him.

take a bow mr elder, take a bow. this was great! it’s so relatable to my own parents and how they raised us. it’s so well written and read i felt constantly engaged. if you’re a larry elder fan then you owe it to yourself to hear his story. when a story makes you feel anger, laugh, and cry, you know it’s touched you. whole heartedly recommend.

Historia
The Roman Republic was one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of civilization. After its founding in 509 BCE, the Romans refused to allow a single leader to seize control of the state and grab absolute power. The Roman commitment to cooperative government and peaceful transfers of power was unmatched in the history of the ancient world. But by the year 133 BCE, the republican system was unable to cope with the vast empire Rome now ruled.

The Road To Serfdom - Roman Edition
Revisado: 03-20-19
i’ve always been fascinated by Rome. culture, history, i even live in a British city built by the Romans (Chester). it’s really cool hearing about people, leaders not mentioned during history lessons at school, about who they were and what they did with their lives.
when you hear how the Romans watered down their laws you can’t help but think about modern day politics and just awe in thinking to yourself are we making the same mistakes? brilliant book imo. but this is for those of us who enjoy history. have to have the passion.

The Clockwork Universe is the story of a band of men who lived in a world of dirt and disease but pictured a universe that ran like a perfect machine. A meld of history and science, this book is a group portrait of some of the greatest minds who ever lived as they wrestled with natures most sweeping mysteries. The answers they uncovered still hold the key to how we understand the world.

this was a fantastic story and listen. i wish science and history in school was as enjoyable as this book was.
really interesting hearing how the ancient Greeks asked how, but Isaac Newton asked why? fascinating.
this does warrant another listen and i want to do so while looking up the facts myself. it has spark an interest in me. credit to the author and narrator 👏

Historia
Known for his network of conservative websites that draws millions of readers everyday, Andrew Breitbart has one main goal: to make sure the "liberally biased" major news outlets in this country cover all aspects of a story fairly. Breitbart is convinced that too many national stories are slanted by the news media in an unfair way. In Righteous Indignation, Breitbart talks about the key issues that Americans face, how he has aligned himself with the Tea Party, and how one needs to deal with the liberal news world head on.

good listen and story
Revisado: 11-20-18
i always wanted to know the story of Andrew Breitbart and this was a great insight. it’s really sad he is no longer with us bc what a great person he was. i never knew he started off working for Arianna Huffington and that they were at a time friends. this backstory and the events of the main story really caught my attention. i had never heard the term “modified limited hangout” before either. so in honour i did what Mr Breitbart asks you to do.
it is sad he is no longer around. but do listen to his story and learn about the man.

Historia
In this brilliantly original book, Camille Paglia identifies some of the major patterns that have endured in western culture from ancient Egypt and Greece to the present. According to Paglia, one source of continuity is paganism, which, undefeated by Judeo-Christianity, continues to flourish in art, eroticism, astrology, and pop culture. Others, she says, are androgyny, sadism, and the aggressive western eye, which has created our art and cinema.

throughly enjoyed this. went in unsure but it was so insightful and the view point given was eye opening.
you know, things like how women dress as men to be strong like a man. be ready to do a man’s job. men that dress as women are seeking God, because they will forever envy their mothers.
and examples are given.
same with the concept of women having power. why in modern day as well throughout history woman have power over children, or those not yet at adulthood. why men mostly assault and rape women. woman can’t more than they don’t. and they do, throughout history and literature but with minors, where they have the dominance.
this lead to a quote “experience always wins against innocents” it’s just so good at feeding your mind. i really wish i had read Camille Paglia when i was back in school, i wish they had taught us this book in school.
take a bow Camille Paglia, take a bow.

didn’t enjoy
Revisado: 09-12-18
not too sure why i didn’t like this. i just found it really difficult to get into, trying to remember Russian names seems to be a mental block i have because other than the main characters i couldn’t follow/remember or imagine how the story was being told.
it’s a personal issue but one i have. the quality of the audiobook is there. although towards the end i changed the reading speed up to 1.25x.
not too sure why people consider this a classic. perhaps if you share a cultural connection with Russian literature but i don’t and never felt hooked.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

read, not as good as an audiobook.
Revisado: 08-15-18
it’s alright. it starts well but feels like i am being read journal entries throughout. i am sure JH is a nice guy but from the midway point there’re tones of that American neo-liberal persona. it’s a personal taste i just can’t stand and ended up waiting and wanting the end to come.
mentioning that there’s diagrams and illustrations we should look at kind of misses the point of an audiobook. you can download them, but like my title, this is a book to be read not listened to.

Historia
One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.
