I found this book to be so enlightening. As she went through each chapter it was like I was putting together the puzzle pieces of my life from childhood until present. Great book!

Great “feel good” read

I enjoyed this book as it was a great escape for me. I’ve been reading some books on really heavy topics lately so this one seemed “light” even though it dealt with some tough topics.

Haunting

I think that it’s easy to think of such things as the PACT movement described in this book as happening in the past, but I do believe that we have our own contemporary examples which the author pointed out in her post-logue. Definitely reminds us that the past is not always a lesson, but sometimes the template for a future behavior.

Wonderful story of hope

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of riding above one’s beginnings and triumph over difficulties. This story contained the richness of the main characters own story as narrated by someone who spent an extended time with him and sought to truly understand him as well as those who shaped him. The narration was flawless and let me with a feeling of hope in this uncertain world.

Knowing that all disagreements have two sides and that none of us is perfect, I did find his account compelling and interesting for the most part. I hope that he will be able to move on to fully become his own man painful though it will be.

Great read- even for a non-gamer

This was a book club selection for a group I moderate and I have to say I was skeptical from the start. I am not into grabbing it anything to do with it unless you count Candy Crush. I ended up loving this book and the fragile yet incredibly strong characters. Loved it.

Wonderful story of hope

This book was a difficult one too great and yet vital to our understanding of the plight of women and young girls around the world. Only by knowing this can we work to end the devaluation of these young and shining stars. The story was made ask the more powerful by the narrator’s ability to bring us into the world of Adounni.

Slow going until the last 30 minutes

I wasn’t expecting a world class story by this was even more sites and predictably than I thought it wood be. The narration is entertaining but doesn’t make up for the lacking of the storyline.

Took me awhile to warm up to

I enjoyed this book overall but I must admit that it took me awhile to get in to it. I agree with the reviewer who said it would be more appropriate for the young adult section. Definitely don’t think it was a waste of time though.
