Historia
Death in the Andamans is a masterpiece of mystery and romance from one of our most beloved authors. When a violent storm lashes the tiny Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal, Copper Randal barely manages a safe return to Government House. She does get back in one piece with her hostess, Valerie Masson, Val's fiancé, and handsome naval officer Nick Tarrent, but one of the islanders is unaccounted for when the boats return to harbor.

Revisado: 02-06-24
The story starts with the back and forth between two young women. Are they teenagers? I do not know because I abandoned the book.

Historia
Thirty-year-old widow Louisa Middlehope is determined to escape from her late husband’s family and live life for herself for the first time. The tiny village of Great Maeswood offers her the peace and quiet her heart craves, and perhaps, it might provide a little entertainment, too. But the house she has leased has been empty for a quarter of a century and who knows what secrets it holds?

Revisado: 12-20-23
This author was suggested as someone similar to Georgette Heyer. Not even close! Disappointing. The main character is a woman of about 30. But the narrator could have fooled me. The narrator is a much older woman. How hard is it to find an appropriately aged narrator. And she emotes! Over the top. I do not know how the story progresses or ends because I abandoned the Audio.

Poor narration
Revisado: 10-01-22
I love Mary Stewart novels. The Moonspinners, Nine Coaches Waiting, and Madame Will You Talk Audible versions have wonderful narrators. My Brother Michael does not. A voice too old for the part? She threw me out of the story. Wish I could return this one.

Historia
A brand-new, unabridged recording of Baroness Orczy's classic tale of adventure, read by Julian Rhind-Tutt. Paris, 1792. The Terror has begun. Every day, scores of the French nobility are delivered to the guillotine. Trapped in the capital, they have no way of escape. But rumours abound of a league of young English gentlemen who are risking their lives to spirit French aristocrats away to safety across the Channel. Led by a man known only as the 'Scarlet Pimpernel', they leave no trace behind them save a single note.

I have purchased almost 40 Audible books at this point. This Audible version of The Moonspinners and the version of Madam Will You Talk are the very best in terms of the voice matching the character of the heroine and overall delivery. I love them! I wish I could say the same for every Audible book - particularily some of the Georgette Heyer Audibles. Some of those I have abandoned early on. I highly recommend the Audible for The Moonspinners and Madame Will You Talk.

Superior narrator
Revisado: 02-12-20
This is one of my favorite Georgette Heyer novels. And Phyllida Nash does a wonderful job of narrating. There are several Audible versions of Heyer novels that I could not listen to because of the narrators. I was so sorry I purchased them. But this story with this narrator is one I will listen to again and again.
To nitpick: The cover with this Audible book shows a dark haired young man. Gilly does not have dark hair. Audible - please pay attention to the characters when you choose covers. (The Nonesuch is the worst.)

This story needs a different narrator
Revisado: 02-08-20
Great story but the narrator is a disappointment. In fact, I did not get far and abandoned the Audible story. She has an older woman’s voice and she does very little to differentiate between male and female voices. And the quality of her voice is poor. I will not buy another Audible narrated by this person.

Historia
He had nothing to recommend him but his smile, and she was surely too old, and had too much commonsense, to be beguiled by a smile... Miss Abigail Wendover's efforts to detach her spirited niece Fanny from a plausible fortune-hunter are complicated by the arrival in Bath of Miles Caverleigh. The black sheep of his family, a cynical, outrageous care-for-naught with a scandalous past - that would be a connection more shocking even than Fanny's unwise liaison with his nephew!

Narrator miscast
Revisado: 12-18-19
The heroine, Abby, is a 28 year old woman. The narrator seemed to be a woman in her 70’s! She does an excellent job narrating, but her shaky older voice ruined the audio for me. I didn’t get past the first chapter before I abandoned the book. Why can’t Audible find narrators who actually fit the part?

Excellent narration; good but not the best of Heyer's novels
Revisado: 09-10-16
This Heyer novel is enjoyable but not one of my favorites. First, Waldo and Ancilla are off-putting names for our lovers, and whoever chose the picture that accompanies this audio, should be demoted. Hideous depiction of Waldo. In the last quarter of the novel, some of the characters talk and go on and on and on. I am talking to you, Mrs. Chartley. I don't know how the narrator stood it.
Anyway, fairly enjoyable Heyer novel, and this audio of The Nonesuch is one I would listen to again.

My favorite Georgette Heyer novel (and I have read almost all of them) narrated by the excellent Phyllida Nash. I have listened to it twice. The abridged version was a disappointment. This is not. Now, if she could just do These Old Shades and Devil's Cub.
