Historia
Scotland, 1745: The youngest son of the scandalous Mackenzie family, Malcolm is considered too wild to tame...until he meets a woman who is too unattainable to resist. Lady Mary Lennox is English, her father highly loyal to the king, and promised to another Englishman. But despite it being forbidden to speak to Malcolm, Lady Mary is fascinated by the Scotsman, and stolen moments together lead to a passion greater than she'd ever dreamed of finding.

Deeply moving story. Can be read as a stand-alone novel or as part of series.

Good story, except....
Revisado: 02-10-18
it had major overtones of sexual intimidation, sexual harassment, and not quite consensual sex. The male protagonist is the female protagonist's employer, and he and his family spend the whole book automatically assuming that she will soon start sleeping with him and he's paying her for it, despite her very valid reasons to not want to be a mistress. It's almost like the book wants you to think that her dream of getting married and having legitimate children is unrealistic and unreasonable. When I first read this book about 7 years ago, I really enjoyed it. Listening to it now, however, made me aware of the less savory aspects. For example, the heroine didn't even want to give up her virginity, and wasn't aware of what was happening until it was too late. Instead of being furious, she decides that it was inevitable and she should continue to sleep with him anyway because it's just so enjoyable. if you can ignore this, though it's a pretty enjoyable read. Just don't think too hard.
