Historia
When Pentagon bioterror operative Roberto Diaz was sent to investigate a suspected biochemical attack, he found something far worse: a highly mutative organism capable of extinction-level destruction. He contained it and buried it in cold storage deep beneath a little-used military repository. Now, after decades of festering in a forgotten sub-basement, the specimen has found its way out and is on a lethal feeding frenzy. Only Diaz knows how to stop it.

save your time and skip this book
Revisado: 10-05-22
Honestly after the first chapter you can skip to chapter 23 and miss nothing but useless filler. The story finally takes off just to give you about 15 chapters of good solid storyline. The amount of unnecessary back story made me lose interest in this book, I had to force myself to continue listening to it. The true saving grace of this audiobook is the narrator, his performance is very good.

not horror but good stories
Revisado: 05-21-21
maybe I'm just jaded but none were scary, and all but 2 held my attention and I thought they were good. A couple I wish had been longer or made into a full novel.
overall worth the credit for the stories but not if you want actual horror

Ruined by Leftist virtue signaling BS.
Revisado: 12-07-20
Far too much Identity Politics clumsily injected into the story. In the first book you had two chapters that dealt with the Author's Leftist views, but in this one it is throughout. Constantly you have Aech complaining about how many White people are in 80's Pop Culture. Or tangents about who was born a male but is now a female, or how cool it was to try virtual Pan sexuality. I really don't care who does what in their bedroom, what sex organs they have or used to have, or what their damn skin color is, just TELL THE STORY! Everytime I start to get into the story, BAM, face first into a big helping of Identity Politics. I just want to listen to a story about young people that geek out on Pop Culture that I grew up with. I read/listen to books to take a breather from reality. If I want a dose of Leftist virtue signaling crap I will just get on Twitter and get my fill for free and save my credits. Totally ruined the book for me.

Historia
Editors Randy Chandler and Cheryl Mullenax put the call out to horror writers and editors of extreme stories, the hardcore stuff that breaks boundaries and trashes taboos, the transgressive tales you can't "unread" (as Chuck Palahniuk says). Some of the stories you'll find here are loaded with very graphic descriptions of violence, sex, and depravities, while others may contain only one shocking moment of brutality. In others, the hardcore aspect may be less graphic and subtler than you might expect.

if you are a sexual deviant this is your book
Revisado: 10-20-20
i love a good horror story with gore, and even don't mind rape, mutilation, or self harm. But this book takes it too far. how they found so many authors to write such horrible sh*t is beyond me. I had to stop listening half way through. I read the reviews before using a credit to buy this book, they mostly said the book was gorey. it's not just gore it's disgusting and revolves around sex, sexual deviance, rape, dead babies, and bathtub clothes hanger abortion. It's NOT a horror anthology.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. That noise in the dead of night. The shadow that slips by almost unnoticed. The fear that pulverizes your sense of reasoning and pushes you deep down under seven layers of covers. There is no escaping it, and when the dark forces of the universe come after you, the world will know exactly what you are made of. Will you run? Will you fight? Maybe you’ll join forces with the darkness that rips through your quiet little life. Everyone’s dying to find out.

pretty good stories
Revisado: 10-17-20
Narrators were good and all but one story kept my attention (I admit I ended up skipping that story after about 3 minutes), the next to last story kinda droned on but was still not bad, and a couple were wonderfully spine tingling creepy. All in all well worth the credit.

Historia
Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind....

Very good selection
Revisado: 08-23-20
This book has a very good selection of different stories all read very well. A couple of the stories were just ok. But some I didn't want to end, and I am looking forward to reading more from those authors.

An inside account of the fight to contain the world's deadliest diseases - and the panic and corruption that make them worse. The Next Pandemic is a firsthand account of disasters like anthrax, bird flu, and others - and how we could do more to prevent their return. It is both a gripping story of our brushes with fate and an urgent lesson on how we can keep ourselves safe from the inevitable next pandemic.

got very political towards the end
Revisado: 08-21-20
While I found this book very informative, towards the end specifically chapter 8 was more political than it was informative. The whole chapter was on hurricane Katrina, which in my opinion should not be included in a book on pandemics.
the other chapters were good. have I read better yes, have I read worse yes. The narrator was good, I will be looking into more books read by him.
